International Pizza Cake Day - According to legend, the first pizza cake—a cake that looks like a pizza—was created by Chef François Gundermeaux, for the wedding of France's Duke of Angoulême and Italy's Lady Mauriello.

This wedding was said to have happened in France during the time of the Italian Wars, during the French Renaissance, in part to form an alliance. As the story goes, Lady Mauriello's father, Geomar, requested to Chef Gundermeaux that a traditional Italian pizza be included with the wedding meal. As it was the day before the wedding, and Chef Gundermeaux was not familiar with pizzas besides seeing them in paintings but was an expert at making pastries, he created a cake that looked like a pizza. Upon tasting the creation, Geomar exclaimed, "This is not pizza, this is pizza cake!"

Netflix will shutter its DVD business after 25 years, with DVD.com coming to a close in 2023.

“After an incredible 25 year run, we’ve decided to wind down DVD.com later this year,” co-CEO Ted Sarandos wrote in a memo Tuesday. “Our goal has always been to provide the best service for our members but as the business continues to shrink that’s going to become increasingly difficult. So we want to go out on a high, and will be shipping our final discs on September 29, 2023.”

Founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in 1997, the streaming service got its start as a DVD-by-mail service. As Netflix expanded to its highly popular streaming service, boosting both library titles and the streamer’s slate of original content, DVD.com has remained in business until Tuesday’s announcement.

“Those iconic red envelopes changed the way people watched shows and movies at home — and they paved the way for the shift to streaming,” the memo continues. “From the beginning, our members loved the choice and control that direct-to-consumer entertainment offered: the wide variety of the titles and the ability to binge watch entire series.”

The move positions Redbox Entertainment as the last big DVD rental company. Redbox, through its familiar red kiosks at grocery stores and convenience stores, rents movies and video games at signifcantly lower prices than most on-demand platforms.

Pitchfork.com has confirmed that Coachella has been fined $117,000 for breaking curfew violations in Indio, California, . The festival was supposed to wrap up by midnight on Sunday night, but Frank Ocean’s headlining set went over by roughly 25 minutes. Additionally, Coachella also broke the 1:00 a.m. curfew on Friday and Saturday by 25 minutes and 22 minutes.

Going five minutes past curfew will result in a daily fine of $20,000. Every minute after that costs $1,000 per minute. The fines go towards Indio’s General Fund, which is used for operating costs, public works, and the police and fire departments.

Because you know I like to panic - NASA says an old satellite will fall back to Earth sometime today . . . and there's a 1 in 2,500 chance of it crushing someone. They call those chances "low."

It's an old satellite they put up there in 2002 to observe solar flares from the sun. They decommissioned it five years ago, and it's slowly been falling out of orbit ever since.

It's not small. It weighs about 660 pounds. But they're hoping most of it burns up in the atmosphere during reentry.

Last we checked, their prediction was it would crash land somewhere around 9:30 P.M. Eastern. But that's just an educated guess.

They said it could come crashing down up to 16 hours before or after that.

Reese's has new, limited-edition versions of their Peanut Butter Cups out. One that has a CRUNCHY peanut butter filling . . . and one that has a new, CREAMY filling, made with a "noticeably smoother texture" than the classic ones.

They'll be available through the summer, while supplies last. Reese's wants you to try both, and then vote for your favorite at Hersheyland.com.

Monday i was in Target and they had a ton of Reese's Eggs left over from EAster. Go get cheap candy.

A 21-year-old woman in New York named Jayleen Mota was recently hired by Buffalo Wild Wings . . . but she didn't want to go into work last weekend, so she hatched a really dumb plan.

She sent text messages to random people claiming that someone was going to "shoot up" that Buffalo Wild Wings location. She said it'd be a "massacre" . . . and "lots of people are going down."

She knew people would believe her and warn the restaurant . . . because, unfortunately, this kind of thing happens all the time in America. But she SHOULD'VE known that they'd also call the police, who could easily trace the messages back to her.

Jayleen was arrested, and is looking at up to five years in prison.

A recent survey asked people for their "alternative sleep spots" . . . and 51% claimed the couch. But it's surprising that percentage wasn't higher, because the other options seem . . . less optimal.

44% said they'll catch some Zs on the carpet or a rug . . . 43% said an armchair works . . . 36% said at a table or a desk . . . 30% said "on top of laundry"

And 15% said outside, maybe on a hammock or lounge chair.

Someone conducted a poll on the best and worst baseball mascots.

They showed 1,000 people a series of head-to-head mascot matchups, and people picked the best one in each matchup. Afterward, they looked at which ones performed the best across all the voting.

America's FAVORITE mascot is PAWS from the Detroit Tigers . . . and the runners-up were Clark the Cub from the Chicago Cubs and T.C. Bear from the Minnesota Twins.

Arguably the most famous mascot, the Phillie Phanatic from the Philadelphia Phillies, came in 10th.

In LAST place was the Swinging Friar from the San Diego Padres. The second-worst is Slider from the Cleveland Guardians.

They ranked 27 mascots, with the main one from each team. Three teams don't have a mascot: The Yankees, the Dodgers, and the Angels.

For what it's worth, more than half of baseball fans think those teams SHOULD get a mascot, while about one-third say they should not. The rest don't care either way.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Granny Smith apples are named after Maria Ann Smith. She moved to Australia from England, bought an orchard, and accidentally created a new kind of apple by planting seeds from French crab apples.
