New at the Movies

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire -  Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Starring: Paul Rudd, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Finn Wolfhard, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Annie Potts, Carrie Coon, Celeste O’Connor, McKenna Grace, Logan Kim.

A new poll asked 14,000 people how old they were when they "first started swearing on a regular basis" . . . and 10% said they were dropping profanity by the age of 10.  4% claimed they were even "younger than 8."

The most common answer was actually 19% of people saying they've NEVER fallen into the habit of "regularly" using bad words.

Among people who DO admit to using foul language, 18% say they started between the ages of 14 and 16 . . . 13% say they were in the 11 to 13 range . . . and another 13% say it was the 17 to 19 range.

And 14% say they didn't start using profanity regularly until they were "20 or older."  Men were more likely than women to admit to swearing at a young age.

Also, 48% of people claim they were NOT mimicking their parents . . . because their guardians "rarely" or "never" used profanity in front of them.

It's Easter season, which means there's a decent chance you might encounter black jellybeans, which is a problem for some people.

1.  Black Licorice . . . 59% say it's gross

2.  Blue Cheese . . . 42% say it's gross

3.  Olives . . . 32% say they're gross.  They didn't specify which kind.

4.  Beets . . . 30% say they're gross

5.  Raisins . . . 26% say they're gross

6.  Mushrooms . . . 24% say they're gross

7.  Tofu . . . 20% say it's gross

8.  Sushi . . . 18% say it's gross

9.  Marzipan . . . 18% say it's gross

10.  Peas . . . 16% say they're gross

11.  Pickles . . . 16% say they're gross

12.  Broccoli . . . 9% say it's gross

13.  Carrots . . . 5% say they're gross.  They didn't specify whether they're COOKED or not, and that may make a difference.

Enough colleges are offering classes on Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, usually for something in the Sociology world. And now, Vermont State University is offering a course on Weird Al Yankovic.

Professor Brian Warwick says, quote, "Al Yankovic's work is not just about the parodies.  It's also about his tribute or pastiche songs, where it's actually an original work by Al Yankovic, but he's paying tribute to another artist."

The course will analyze what makes a good parody, how to pay tribute to another artist, Al's lyricism, and the context of the world when the songs were written.

Warwick says, quote, "It just gives us an avenue to start studying the 20th century and pop culture in the 20th century."

Disney+, Max, Hulu, Paramount+ . . . pretty much every network has their own streaming service these days.

According to a recent survey, the average American spends $61 per month for four services.  This is up 27% from last year's survey that found the average person pays $48 per month.

It also found that 36% of people think the content on streaming services ISN'T worth the price.

And 48% say they'd cancel their favorite service if their prices were increased by $5 per month.

Every year since 2012, Gallup has put out a "World Happiness Report," which ranks how people in more than 140 countries evaluate the quality of their lives.

And for the SEVENTH year in a row, Finland is #1.

Denmark is #2 . . . Iceland is #3. . . and the rest of the Top 10 is:  Sweden . . . Israel  (it's a three-year average, and most likely the poll was before everything that's happening over there now). . . the Netherlands . . . Norway . . . Luxembourg . . . Switzerland . . . and New Zealand.

The U.S. is #23 out of 143 countries, which isn't terrible, relatively speaking. . . but it's our lowest rank since they've been doing this 12 years ago.

When broken down by age, the happiness level is MUCH higher among older folks in America.  Among people under 30, the U.S. sank to #62, while for those 60 and older, it's #10 in happiness level.

Overall, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Lesotho are the countries where people are LEAST satisfied and happy with their lives.  They finished just below Sierra Leone, Congo, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Eswatini, and Zambia.
