Happy St. Patricks Day -
St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland.
Born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century, he was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped but returned about 432 CE to convert the Irish to Christianity. By the time of his death on March 17, 461, he had established monasteries, churches, and schools. Many legends grew up around him—for example, that he drove the snakes out of Ireland and used the shamrock to explain the Trinity.
Boston held its first St. Patrick’s Day parade in 1737, followed by New York City in 1762. Since 1962 Chicago has colored its river green to mark the holiday, although blue was the color traditionally associated with St. Patrick.
By the way, Leprechauns are not Jolly in Ireland, and they wouldn't be eating corned beef either.
It's a long story about "Corned Beef" in short.
The Irish weren't big beef eaters, they were more into Pork.
The British invented the term “corned beef” in the 17th century to describe the size of the salt crystals used to cure the meat, the size of corn kernels.
It was the Irish immigrants that were eating Corned Beef.Iinstead of their beloved bacon, the Irish began eating beef. And, the beef they could afford just happened to be corned beef, (and cabbage was cheap too) the thing their great grandparents were famous for.

The American Kennel Club has released its list of the most popular dog breeds in the U.S. in 2022, based on registration statistics.
The French Bulldog is #1 for the first time, dethroning the Labrador Retriever, which had been #1 for 31 straight years. Before that, it was the Cocker Spaniel.
Here's the Top 10:
1. French Bulldogs
2. Labrador Retrievers
3. Golden Retrievers
4. German Shepherds
5. Poodles
6. Bulldogs
7. Rottweilers
8. Beagles
9. Dachshunds
10. German Shorthaired Pointers
Dog popularity can fluctuate wildly over time. 25 years ago, French Bulldogs weren't in the Top 75. And Cocker Spaniels, which were #1 in 1990, are down at #29 now. And Collies, a.k.a. Lassie dogs, are #39.
The Kennel Club recognizes 199 breeds. The LEAST popular breed last year was English Foxhounds, and the runner-up was Norwegian Lundehunds.

Today is World Sleep Day. Here are a few stats from a new poll on sleep habits . . .
1. 42% of Americans prefer to sleep on their SIDE . . . 18% are usually BACK sleepers . . . and 17% sleep on their stomach.
2. Some people need a consistent set-up each night to fall asleep, but 22% of people claim they switch up their sleeping position every single night. And 64% of people consider themselves "restless sleepers."
3. Only 1-in-10 people wake up feeling refreshed every morning.
4. On average, people say they need to sleep with THREE pillows. Which sounds fine . . . until you consider that for every person who sleeps with one, there's someone who's buried in FIVE pillows.

There was a photo on social media that went viral this week, where a man was eating a full rack of ribs on a plane. He'd apparently brought it on with him.
That led to a lot of discussion . . . both about being considerate to others AND about whether you'd even WANT to eat certain foods on a plane, considering the tight space . . . messiness . . . and difficulty of getting to a sink.
Buzzfeed asked people about 32 ridiculous foods, and asked them to vote on whether or not they'd want to eat them on a plane.
The ones that the most people would NOT eat are pretty absurd. 96% wouldn't eat a crawfish boil on a plane . . . 95% wouldn't do oysters . . . and 90% couldn't fully enjoy "a large bowl of beans."
77% wouldn't eat ribs on a plane, no matter how many wet-naps they had. But MORE people said NO to: Egg salad . . . hard-boiled eggs . . . an entire rotisserie chicken . . . sloppy joes . . . corn on the cob . . . tuna . . . and shrimp cocktail.
Most of the foods on the list were meant to be problematic, but some weren't as bad as others.
Only 12% said they wouldn't eat sour cream and onion potato chips . . . only 13% would refuse to eat a burrito . . . and only 23% would pass on a large burger.
Others that a majority of people WOULD bring onto a plane include: An entire pizza . . . sushi . . . nachos . . . a plate of fried chicken . . . a meatball sub . . . and a pomegranate, which can be a mess to eat anywhere.
