Will it be BTS's summer Or Olivia Rodrigo's. They are neck and neck with all sorts of summer records on the charts here and around the world. But BTS kicks it up a notch, with a #1 debut of their new single "Permission to Dance." With "Butter" dropping to #7 after seven weeks at #1.
BTS has achieved its five Hot 100 No. 1s over a span of 10 months and two weeks. That's the quickest accumulation of five leaders since Michael Jackson tallied five, all from his album Bad, over nine months and two weeks in 1987-88. The Beatles hold the mark for the quickest span of five Hot 100 No. 1s, having earned their first five over exactly six months in 1964.
But don't count out Justin Bieber. Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber debut on the Hot 100 at No. 3 with "Stay."
