Groundhog day was yesterday and Phil saw his shadow, by the way, he's only been right about 40 percent of the time over the past 10 years. He's been prognosticating for 137 years now.
Phil's "inner circle" summoned him from his tree stump in Gobblers Knob to learn if he saw his shadow. According to folklore, there will be six more weeks of winter if he sees his shadow. If he doesn't, spring comes early.
Groundhog Day has origins in Germany, where hedgehogs were first used as the season-predicting mammals, according to Groundhog.org. Since hedgehogs aren't native to the United States, another hibernating animal was chosen in their stead: the groundhog.
The year 1886 marked the first time Groundhog Day appeared in the local newspaper in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The tradition continued to grow and is now celebrated all over the world.
This appears to be an enhanced version of the lore that clear weather on the Christian festival of Candlemas forebodes a prolonged winter.

Banks and other credit card issuers will no longer be able to charge late fees as high as $41 under a rule introduced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which has proposed capping them at $8. Late fees were low until the 2000s, said CFPB head Rohit Chopra, but banks have since turned them into a $12 billion-per-year revenue stream. The agency has previously worked to get banks to end fees for overdrafts and bounced checks.

The official curriculum for the Advanced Placement African American studies course, which was released yesterday, downplayed topics including Black Lives Matter, slavery reparations and queer Black people. The College Board, which creates AP course materials and tests, denied that the changes were made to appease Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose administration has blocked the course, calling it "indoctrination."
We are heading down a slippery slope when politicians are saying what education should be.

There's a section on Reddit called "Ask Women". And someone asked them to name the weirdest place a guy's ever taken them on a date. Here are the highlights . . .
1. Two weeks into dating, a guy took a girl to his grandfather's funeral and introduced her as his "special friend."
2. A guy drove a woman to a Taco Bell parking lot, and they watched the animated movie "Sausage Party" on his phone.
3. Some creep took a woman to an adult book store, and tried to get her to watch a movie with him in their gross theater room.
4. A guy picked a woman up for dinner after she chose the restaurant. Then he drove the wrong direction for 30 minutes before she said anything. It turned out he didn't know where the place was, but didn't want to admit it.
5. A guy was supposed to take a woman bowling for their first date. Instead, he took her to his mom's house to help decorate his mom's bedroom.
6. A guy offered to show a girl his "hidden spot in the city" where he goes to think and write songs. It was just a filthy underpass.
7. A woman was expecting to go to lunch. Instead, the guy took her to a gun range with three of his buddies.
8. A guy suggested Dave & Buster's for a first date, which is fine. Except his date said she'd rather do something else. He agreed . . . picked her up . . . and took her to Dave & Buster's anyway.
9. A guy took a woman to an empty shipping container in the middle of nowhere for their first date. He said he wanted to buy it for her and turn it into a house.
10. A guy took a woman to a strip club the first time they went out, and then tried to get the strippers' numbers.

In a new survey from Quest Diagnostics, only 51% of Americans say they know their blood type . . . but 66% of people knew their horoscope sign.
There are only eight blood type possibilities, and two-thirds of people are one of two . . . either A-positive or O-positive.
There are 12 astrological signs, although you can find that out just by knowing your birthday. To find out your blood type, you have to ask your doctor or your parents . . . or look through your medical or blood donor records.
Even more alarming, when asked where you get your health advice, 22% of Americans said "social media influencers." 63% said healthcare professionals, which is the correct answer. 52% said "Internet searches."
I'm a Scorpio...and...I don't know!
