Gary Brooker, the singer who put '60s British rock group Procol Harum on the map with an iconic hit of the 'Summer of Love,' is skipping the light fandango in heaven now.

Gary died Saturday after battling cancer according to a statement released by the band. They say their lead singer and pianist died peacefully at his home.

Procol Harum is best remembered for their 1967 hit, "A Whiter Shade of Pale" -- it was co-written by Gary, and became an anthem of the famous 'Summer of Love' in San Francisco.

A 29-year-old man in Northern California named Tyler Watson was pulled over and he was cuffed when the police discovered he had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.

That's when Tyler told the cops that he wasn't driving alone. He had a live alligator in the passenger's seat. He said it wasn't his but he was watching it for a friend who was in jail. That guy had also been arrested a week before, but it's unclear what he did.

Anyway, Tyler was then hit with an additional charge of illegal possession of an alligator. The gator will be fine it was handed over to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. You can't have alligators as pets in California, and you probably shouldn't in all the other 49 states!

Two-thirds of people in a new poll said a frustrating commute can ruin their entire day.

Here are the top ten things that can make your commute annoying.

1. You get in your car and your windshield is covered in ice.

2. Getting stuck in a traffic jam. So that's #1 when it's not freezing out.

3. Someone keeps tailgating you.

4. Someone cuts you off.

5. Your bus or train is delayed.

6. Your windshield is foggy, and you can't get it to clear up.

7. When it seems like you hit every single red light.

8. Having to wait at a red light when no one's coming from the other direction.

9. People having loud phone conversations on public transportation.

10. When someone on a bike rides straight through a red light or stop sign.

A few more that made the top 20 include Slow drivers . . . sitting in traffic when you have to pee . . . and when there are plenty of seats open on a bus or train, but someone sits right next to you anyway.

2,000 people were polled. Here are the top ten worst foods to order on a first date . . .

1. Spicy curry.

2. Spaghetti, because it's messy.

3. Ribs.

4. Corn on the cob.

5. Oysters.

6. Any noodle dish.

7. Chicken wings.

8. Sushi, because of the fish smell.

9. Seafood in general.

10. Fajitas. Again, they're kind of messy.

Mexican avocado imports to the US can resume. The weeklong interruption began after the USDA said one of its safety inspectors was threatened over the phone (a Washington Post source said the inspector had found an illegal shipment).

Over 90% of US avocados came from Mexico last year, so the fruit could have experienced a serious price jump if the ban lasted longer—and its price is already at record highs.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - The word alligator comes from the Spanish el lagarto, which means "the lizard.” Alligators and crocodiles can be correctly identified by looking at their mouths. When the jaws are closed, you can still see the fourth tooth on the lower jaw of the crocodile. However, when an alligator closes its mouth, that tooth is not visible. (like you want to be that close to observe this)
