1997 - 25 Years Ago - Cherry Poppin' Daddies released a compilation album Zoot Suit Riot: The Swingin' Hits of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. This was during the swing revival of the late 90s and the album ended up in the top 20. Perry is heard saying in the title track "I think I'm about ready to sing it now", which he was signifying to the engineer after doing his first run-through of the song. The engineer instead told him it was a decent take and suggested keeping his comment in the final mix as an inside joke, to which Perry ultimately agreed ("Unbeknownst to us, it became a big hit record"). "Zoot.." made #41 #32 Top 40 Mainstream #15 Modern Rock Tracks and #16 Adult Top 40.
