1988 - Don't Be Cruel - Bobby Brown

35 Years Ago - 1988 Bobby Brown released his second album Don't Be Cruel.

The album was a monster with five top-10 singles.

"Don't Be Cruel" peaked at #8 Hot 100, #6 Dance Singles Sales, and #1 R&B/Hip Hop.

"My Prerogative" was the second biggest song of the year. It was written as a response to the criticism he received for his departure from New Edition. He explained the song was about making decisions in one's life and not caring about other people's judgment. It was #1 at Hot 100 and R&B and was #7 Club.

"Roni" peaked at #3, #2 R&B, #7 Dance Singles Sales.

"Every Little Step" won the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance Grammy, and was trendsetting. It popularized the Roger Rabbit dance (aka the "backwards" running man) and the Gumby-style hi-top fade. It made #3 #1 R&B and #17 Club.

"Rock Wit'cha" was actually a follow-up to "On Our Own" from the Ghostbusters II soundtrack (#2 #15 Club #1 R&B.) It made #7 #3 R&B.
