1983 - Synchronicity - The Police

40 Years Ago - 1983 The Police released their fifth album Synchronicity.

This would be the last Police album. Synchronicity won the award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and was nominated for Album of the Year.

The first single "Every Breath You Take" (#1 Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock #5 AC #26 Club) won the awards for Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, and received a nomination for Record of the Year. It was also the #1 song of the year. By the way, it's not a love song. Sting insists it is about the obsession with a lost lover, and the jealousy and surveillance that follow.

"Wrapped Around Your Finger" peaked at #8 and #30 AC.

"King of Pain" peaked at #3 (#1 Mainstream Rock #47 AC.)

"Synchronicity II" made #16. Godley & Creme directed the video, and

during the filming, Stewart Copeland's tower caught fire and the crew started to leave the building. Creme told the director of photography to keep the cameras rolling despite the danger.
