1981 - 40 Years Ago

1981 it was the debut album for Soft Cell, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. Again, another song that you might not know is a cover was the first single. "Tainted Love" is a cover of Gloria Jone's song from 1964. It went to #8 and was on the charts for 43 weeks. It also made #4 Dance and #12 Rock.

Notable, the album also contains a track called "Sex Dwarf" that was played one night on my college radio station for someone on my floor. Nuff Said.

The group caused some controversy in the United Kingdom over the song "Sex Dwarf", the music video of which was banned due to its explicit, S&M-related content.
