45 Years Ago - 1978 Earth, Wind & Fire released their first greatest hits album The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1 (they don't believe in the Oxford comma I guess.)

"Got to Get You Into My Life" was one of the new songs actually being released prior to the album and on the soundtrack of Sgt. Pepper's Loney Hearts Club Band.

It won a Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) peaking at #9 and #1 R&B.

"September" was next making #1 R&B and #8 Hot 100.

Maurice White claimed he simply chose the 21st due to how it sounded when sung. His wife, Marilyn White, however, claimed that September 21 was the due date of their son, Kahbran, according to lyricist Allee Willis.

40 Years Ago - 1983 Earth, Wind & Fire released their thirteenth album Electric Universe.

"Magnetic" was the first single peaking at #10 R&B, #57 Hot 100, #36 Club.

"Touch" was a #23 R&B charter.
