Comedian Tom Smothers, (left) who with his brother performed as the singing comedy duo the Smothers Brothers, has died, at 86.
“Tom was not only the loving older brother that everyone would want in their life, he was a one-of-a-kind creative partner,” Dick Smothers said in a statement. “I am forever grateful to have spent a lifetime together with him, on and off stage, for over 60 years. Our relationship was like a good marriage – the longer we were together, the more we loved and respected one another. We were truly blessed.” (Dick Smothers is 84)
a true champion for freedom of speech, harnessing the power of comedy to push boundaries and our political consciousness.
“Tom was a true pioneer who changed the face of television and transformed our culture with The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, which satirized politics, combated racism, protested the Vietnam War, and led the way for Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show, today’s network late night shows, and so much more,” he continued. “We were proud to bring Tom and Dick out of retirement and reunite them on stage in 2019 to celebrate their legendary careers, and we are honored to preserve Tom’s remarkable work and legacy here at the National Comedy Center for generations to come.”
He was absolutely the best at being the dim one.

For better or for worse, a wave of couples saying “I do” in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve could set a record for the city’s busiest wedding day ever.
That’s because 12/31/23 is known in the massive Las Vegas wedding industry as a “specialty date,” thanks to the repeating 1-2-3 1-2-3 pattern, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
The icing on the cake? This specialty date falls on a holiday famous for blowout celebrations.
The number to beat on New Year’s Eve is 4,492 — the single-day record for marriages in Las Vegas set on July 7, 2007. The second-most popular specialty wedding date on record with the county’s marriage bureau is Nov. 11, 2011, when 3,125 couples tied the knot.

Do you need more Vitamin D?
Nursing babies definitely need a supplement.
All infants and children who consume less than 32 ounces of vitamin D–fortified formula or milk per day should also get supplements of 400 IU. Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, and certain liver and kidney conditions can cause vitamin D deficiency, so people with these illnesses might also need supplements. People who are hospitalized or who have had gastric bypass surgery may also become deficient.
Also, African American folks seemed to have lower D levels in one test.
Otherwise, we should be fine.
If you do take a vitamin, keep it around 400 IU. But the article said that up to 2000 does no harm. They are studying if higher doses help with long illnesses and long COVID.

You're Killing Me Smalls!!!!!!
Talk about heartwarming for the holidays ... the former child stars of "The Sandlot" reunited in Florida to play a little ball, and raise money for charity while they were at it.
Fans of the film got to hang out with 'Sandlot' stars Marty York, Tom Guiry, Victor DiMattia, Shane Obedzinski and Grant Gelt for 2 days in New Smyrna Beach ... with movie screenings, meet and greets and a celebrity softball game to cap it all off.
The 2-day charity event followed the 30th anniversary of the iconic movie's release ... and proceeds benefitted Table 2 Committee, a nonprofit that raises money for local youth sports programs.
'Sandlot' writer, director and narrator David Mickey Evans organized the whole thing.
