36% more Americans are planning to make finance-related New Year's resolutions for 2024, compared to last year.  Overall, about HALF of us will make a New Year's resolution involving money.

Maybe THIS is why most people won't give up anything significant as a New Year's resolution:  People want an average of $177,000 to give up their top vice, for one year.

You get up in the morning, and what's the first thing you get? Coffee. But should you on an empty stomach?

The good news is that drinking coffee on an empty stomach is not inherently bad for you, and your stomach can usually adapt to protect itself. But it may cause some discomfort, in which case you’ll likely want to change up your routine.

a Kentucky gastroenterologist explained that coffee plays around with stomach acid levels in multiple ways. As a result, some folks may deal with issues — namely indigestion — that could be easily solved by avoiding caffeine or, perhaps, indulging in a cup alongside some food.

If you experience this, just have some food with it.

Finally, opting for tea, perhaps ― may prove to be your best option if you’re dealing with dyspepsia after drinking coffee on an empty stomach.

“Green tea and black tea also have a lot of benefits. They have less caffeine but they’re also less acidic so if your stomach is bothering you, consider them instead.”

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - America was almost named "Amerige," meaning Land of Amerigo . . . after Amerigo Vespucci.  But it was given the feminine form, America since Europe and Asia received feminine names.
