The New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square is returning after taking a hiatus last year. Mayor Bill de Blasio said the event is "coming back full strength," but with some new rules to keep people safe. Revelers aged five and older will have to show proof of vaccination and wear a mask if they want to watch the ball drop in person. If you're still concerned, the city will have a test run with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which is also returning in full force this year.

Wait....who takes their 5 year old to Times Square on NYE??

Don't miss the almost total eclipse of the moon! A lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align so that the Moon passes into Earth’s shadow. In a total lunar eclipse, the entire Moon falls within the darkest part of Earth’s shadow, called the umbra. In this eclipse, up to 99.1% of the Moon’s disk will be within Earth’s umbra.

The best viewing will be right around the peak of the eclipse, on Friday, November 19th at 4:03 AM.
