The United States Marine Corps, a branch of the United States Armed Forces, is responsible for providing power protection from the sea. They use the mobility of the United States Navy to deliver combined-arms task forces rapidly.
The Continental Congress first established the Continental Marines on November 10, 1775, leading up to the American Revolution. Two battalions of Marines fought for independence both on land and at sea.

Stockwell earned a supporting actor Oscar nomination for 1988 film “Married to the Mob.” Before that he was twice named best actor at the Cannes film festival in 1959 and 1962. The first of these was for “Compulsion,” in which Stockwell reprised a role he had earlier played on Broadway.
It's a fact: Eating too much fat can raise cholesterol, clog arteries, and contribute to the risk of stroke and other forms of heart disease -- not to mention obesity, diabetes, cancer, and a host of other conditions.
But you can still eat fat! The right type..plant-based fats lower stroke risk.
The study, which has not yet been peer-reviewed, found people who ate the most vegetable-based fats were 12% less likely to experience a stroke compared to those who ate the least.
On the flip side, people who ate the highest levels of animal-based saturated fat were 16% more likely to experience a stroke than those who ate the least fat of that kind.
"What are the major sources of plant or vegetable fats?" asked Alice Lichtenstein, director and senior scientist at the Cardiovascular Nutrition Laboratory at Tufts University in Boston.
"Those would be the liquid vegetable oils, things like corn oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, which are high in polyunsaturated fatty acids, and then oils like canola oil and olive oil, which are high in monounsaturated fatty acids," said Lichtenstein in a statement. She was not involved in the study.
Interestingly, dairy fat, including cheese, butter, milk, ice cream and cream, was not associated with a higher risk of stroke, the study found.

TMZ - Buddy the Elf's favorite color might as well be green ... because someone snatched up the famous costume from the Will Ferrell movie for 10 times as much as the expected price.
The folks over at Prop Store are holding an auction for some of the most iconic film and TV props ever made ... and the winning bid on the "Elf" costume just came in at a whopping $296,702.66. It was expected to bring in 28 to 41 Thousand.
The auction includes 1,000 pieces of Hollywood memorabilia which could haul in around $7.6 million, it also sold Wilson the volleyball from the Tom Hanks movie "Castaway" for $388,750.
I guess we were all cotton-headed ninny muggins for not bidding.

The ice cream brand Salt & Straw is selling a new line of Thanksgiving flavors including one made with real turkey.
The flavor is called Caramelized Turkey and Cranberry Sauce, and it's got "turkey bacon" mixed in. So, not actual hunks of light and dark meat. But still ice cream with turkey in it.
The other ingredients are cranberry sauce, thyme, and ground pepper. It's one of five Thanksgiving flavors they're selling as part of their "Friendsgiving Series."
The other four flavors are: House Rolls with Salted Buttercream, Sweet Potato Pie with Double-Baked Almond Streusel, Pumpkin and Gingersnap Pie, and Candied Walnut Cheesecake.
