People are motivated to try a vegetarian diet for different reasons – from ethical and religious, to potential health and environmental benefits. But many people have a hard time sticking with it. In fact studies show many self-reported vegetarians actually do consume some animal products.
"A lot of people who want to be vegetarian are perhaps not able to," says Dr. Nabeel Yaseen, of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. "We wanted to know if genetics is part of the reason," he says.
They found 34 genes that may play a role in adhering to a strict vegetarian diet, with 3 very tightly linked.
This is early work in finding out if some people might find it easier to follow a vegetarian diet.

A North Carolina-based home improvement company recently set out to find the best, most charming small cities across the United States and Elmira is #1.
In fact, the top four cities in All Star Home's ranking are from New York state, including Corning at No. 2, Utica in the third spot, and Binghamton in fourth place.
The metrics were community — including diversity by state, historic buildings by city, farmer's markets within 30 miles, and high school football winning percentages — along with safety, affordable living, and education.

Ed Sheeran is looking far ahead into the future.
After he experienced a whirlwind of a year -- in addition to facing a copyright lawsuit, he revealed that his wife had been diagnosed with a tumor during pregnancy and also that his best friend had died unexpectedly -- Sheeran recently admitted he dug his own grave on his property.
"I wouldn’t say it’s a crypt," he clarified during an interview with GQ.
"It’s a hole that’s dug in the ground with a bit of stone over it, so whenever the day comes and I pass away, I get to go in there."
The "Shape of You" singer explained he had built a chapel since several people in his life passed away and were cremated. He wanted to dedicate a special place to mourn his loved ones.
Sheeran unveiled his "deepest, darkest thoughts" in his album "Subtract," which was his sixth studio album and part of his mathematical albums.
His most recent project is the release of "Autumn Variations" – in which he wrote 14 songs based on 14 loved ones in his life. Sheeran wanted his latest album to be seasonal where it would encapsulate a shift from summer to fall in England.

BuzzFeed says, Let's be real – a lot of the movies that are "based on a true story" are not exactly... true.
But, a movie can be both inaccurate and enjoyable. A recent Reddit Thread asked "What's a historically inaccurate movie that gets a pass because of how good it is?"
Here's a list of the more popular answers.
Anastasia
Gladiator - almost nothing is historically accurate
Braveheart
The Greatest Showman - he looks like a better person than he was in real life
Gangs of New York
300
The Blind Side - as we have learned recently
Titanic - well there are a few things
This is my favorite on the list - Weird: The Al Yankovic Story - "Accurate? No. A masterpiece? Definitely."

Thanks to the french fry, the potato is America’s favorite vegetable. 30 percent of the veggies consumed in America are of the spud-type. Tomatoes and tomato-based foods account for 22 percent of our veggie intake. Lettuce is 7 percent. All other vegetables make up the other 44 percent.
I find this horribly wrong because I consider a potato a starch and not even close to a veggie.

In a survey of 6,000 women, it turns out most don’t want to see our furry feet and trashy toes. Flip-flops? Nope, not unless you’re going to the beach, the lake, hanging out by the pool, or sitting on a boat. Sandals? Sorry, still too much toe-action — unless you’re wearing sandals that cover the toes. And those Adidas slide-on things many guys wear with socks? The only place you should be wearing them is in a gym shower.
… And women in the survey also want guys to get some freaking pedicures. 78 percent of women surveyed said men need to take better care of their feet.

A hug really does make you feel better after an argument. Researchers found holding hands also improves a person’s mood after a conflict, and the effect lasts into the next day. Researchers (Carnegie Mellon) found those who shared a hug with the person they’d fought with were less likely to harbor negative feelings in the hours and days after.
