Federal cybersecurity agencies around the world yesterday urged web administrators to patch vulnerabilities in PHP, a programming language that powers roughly 70% of websites globally, including Wikipedia. The warning comes after researchers uncovered bugs hackers could exploit to take control of any server running PHP.

PHP’s security team rated the issue a 9.2 out of 10 in terms of danger and worked covertly to develop a solution before announcing emergency updates yesterday.

You as a consumer can't do much about these bugs, but you can protect your home computer and phone. From USAToday.

-Stick to trusted sites and watch out for unexpected emails, texts or messages claiming to come from the websites you frequent.

-Enable two-factor authentication on important online accounts such as email and banking.

-Keep your operating system and browser updated.

-Heed warnings from your web browser if it blocks a site as a security risk and leave the page immediately.

Roughly one in four people diagnosed with depression are believed to have a newly identified "circadian" subtype akin to being in a state of perpetual jet lag; study suggests a need for new treatments.

For someone with circadian depression, their symptoms will change with the seasons, due to the shifting day lengths. Secondly, the midpoint of their sleep is delayed compared to the general population.

They also experience social jet lag: that is, their sleep midpoint on working days is several hours different than the midpoint on non-working days.

Talk to your doctor about this.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The First Commercial Typewriter Sale was in 1868: Christopher Latham Sholes patented the QWERTY keyboard design and sold the commercial rights to his typewriter invention.

The famous QWERTY keyboard layout wasn't designed for fast typing speed—inventor Christopher Sholes deliberately scattered frequently paired letters (like 'S' and 'T') across opposite sides of the keyboard to prevent early mechanical typewriters from jamming when typists moved too fast!
