National Pledge of Allegiance Day - proclaimed by George H.W. Bush, in August of 1989, after Congress passed a resolution designating its establishment. The day takes place on September 8, marking the anniversary of the day the Pledge first appeared, in 1892, in The Youth's Companion.

The original pledge read "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one Nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, the words "under God" were added to the pledge. This was during the height of the Cold War and the fight against Communism, and also at a time of religious reawakening in the United States following World War II.

The NFL regular season kicks off tonight with the Bills against the Super Bowl winning Rams.

This year games will be on networks and streaming. NBC/Peacock, CBS/Paramount+, ESPN, Fox, and Amazon Prime. You can also stream games on radio stations across the country.

We've seen people hassle telemarketers, but this guy came up with something to get back at people who send SPAM EMAILS.

His name is Troy, and he wanted to waste SPAMMERS' time, since they were wasting his . . . so he came up with a trap.

Here's how it works: He gets an email, where someone is asking him to do something, like to sign up for their service to boost your web traffic. It could be anything though.

Then he copies and pastes a canned response, where he says it "sounds exciting" and that he's onboard, but he needs them to leave their information in a special form. There's a link . . . but it requires them to set up an account with an email and a password, like when you sign up to comment on a website.

BUT he has it set so it will NEVER accept their password, and there's an endless list of reasons why, like "Password must contain at least one number" . . . "must contain a U.S. ZIP code" . . . and "must end with dog." Best of all, he gets a report showing how much time they spent trying to pick a workable password.

Papa John's is introducing a new option later this month called "Papa Bowls," which are just all the toppings . . . meats, veggies, cheese, and sauce . . . baked together WITHOUT a crust. So . . . a casserole.

There are three varieties . . . Italian Meats Trio, Chicken Alfredo, and Garden Veggie. Or you can create your own, just like a normal pizza.

The bowls will be available to loyalty members starting next Monday and to everyone else starting on the 22nd. And most locations will have them at $7.99 each

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - McDonald's invented bubble gum-flavored broccoli a few years ago, but wound up scrapping it because the kids who taste-tested it found it too confusing.
