CBS NEWS STANDARDS GUIDANCE – ROYAL LANGUAGE

King Charles III is now sovereign of the monarchy of Great Britain.

Prince William & Kate are now the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Queen Elizabeth will be laid to rest in a coffin (not a casket), as is Royal tradition.

In general, it is okay to refer to him on first reference as King Charles; however, during his coronation and other formal events or ceremonies we should use his full title on first reference.

Camilla will not be called Queen Camilla. She may be called Queen Consort Camilla. On 2nd reference, Camilla is fine.

King Charles III should NOT be referred to as the King of England. He is King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. You can use Great Britain or the UK as a shorthand or on second reference.

He is also King of 14 other countries including Canada, as well as Australia and New Zealand. The other countries where he is the Sovereign are: Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu. Belize, Bahamas, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. Also Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

He is the head of the Commonwealth, which is a voluntary organization of 56 independent countries that includes for example India and Pakistan, South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania. He is NOT the King of these countries even though he is the head of the Commonwealth.

The late-summer heat wave has been uncomfortable for everyone — including vegetables. As high temperatures pummel the Western U.S., crops are taking the brunt, and supermarkets are getting stuck with bruised and discolored produce. The heat is also making crops more vulnerable to diseases, which is cutting yields and putting more pressure on food prices that are already high due to extreme weather.

Coca-Cola has been unleashing bizarre, limited edition flavors under their "Creations" label . . . and the latest is one called "Dreamworld," which is supposed to taste like "the technicolor world of dreams."

Reviewers say it's tropical fruit-flavored . . . so think mango and citrus.

Coca-Cola says this is their fourth and final "Creations" release of the year. It's unclear if they plan to continue further down the road or if this is it.

The previous four Creations were: Starlight, which tasted like space . . . Byte, which tasted like pixels . . . and an unnamed one that was a collaboration with Marshmello, which had a strawberry and watermelon flavor.

Dreamworld comes in both regular and zero-sugar varieties.
