A writer for Slate.com thinks we should stop saying "empty nester."

She thinks it's a subtly offensive or even damaging term, because, quote, "the word 'empty' conveys only absence."  It's a word you almost never use in a positive way.

She also thinks it's an outdated term because a lot of "empty nests" don't really stay that way anymore.  How many times have you seen a baby bird fly off . . . then come back four years later and stick around another decade?

The term "empty nest" has been around for over a century.  It was coined in 1914 and came to describe a sort of malaise that can set in once your kids are gone.

She thinks it's time to replace it with a different term, but what would that term even be?  Her suggestion is "NEXT CHAPTER."  Like, "My kids are finally gone, and I can move on to my next chapter."

A new poll asked people how polite they are when speaking to A.I.  Like, do you say "please" and "thank you"?  Or do you just order Alexa around?

Two in five said they think it matters . . . because someday, our past behavior towards A.I. will be "taken into account somehow."  So, be nice now or it might want to destroy us later.

The good news is most people are pretty nice to A.I. in general.  Or at least not outright rude.

44% said they're polite, and say things like "please," "thank you," and "hello."  Another 25% said they're more to the point, but not rude to it.

Only 7% said they're sometimes mean and do things like "be abrupt" or swear at their A.I. helper.

It also found older people don't feel the need to be as nice as young people do.  56% of Gen Z'ers are polite to A.I., compared to 39% of Boomers.

A woman's TikTok is going viral after her friends made a dinner reservation and told her it was for 8:00 P.M. . . . when it was actually for 8:30.

In other words, they knew she'd be late because she's ALWAYS late.  And it turned out they were right.  She showed up at 8:22, and the hostess said she was the first to arrive.

So from an ethics standpoint, is that okay to do?  One expert weighed in and said it's best to avoid lying.  But confronting a friend can also backfire and make you seem controlling.  So maybe lying and tricking them could work by shaming them into being on time.

Either way, people online seem less concerned about the ethics, and more focused on how rude it is to be chronically late.  One person's warning to her was this:  "The next step is 'forgetting' to invite you."

Keanu Reeves made one of his teenage dreams come true last week . . . well, sorta.  He signed a ONE-DAY contract with a Canadian ice hockey team called the Windsor Spitfires.

Keanu used to be a goalie in high school.  He must've been pretty good because he was considered a prospect for the Ontario Hockey League.  He got injured though, so he took up acting instead.

His single day as a Spitfire was mainly for charity.  A signed copy of his contract, and a signed jersey with his name on the back, will be auctioned to raise money for the Canadian Mental Health Association.

With the cost of living crisis really continuing to crisis, many are looking for alternative ways to live to save a bit of money and ultimately live a more peaceful life and Austin Wells from San Diego worked out buying an apartment on a cruise would be cheaper than home on land.

Wells revealed that he put down $300,000 (£238,000) on a 12-year lease studio apartment onboard the MV Narrative.

there's an array of amazing food to choose from while on board and you'll hardly get bored of the views out of the window when they're changing so frequently and you're sailing around the entire globe.

The room has 237 square feet and features a desk, shower room, pantry and foldaway bed.

The ship plays host to 20 restaurants and bars, a school, a library, a bank, a cinema and a swimming pool.

Obviously, he works from home and will save $500 on rent a month.

Those who "live" onboard full-time are also granted access not only to a private gym and farmer’s market but also medical services, 24-hour room service, and private kitchens.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - After a curling match, the winners are supposed to take the losers out for a round of drinks, even at the Olympics.
