There's a Reddit thread online of old-school names that people say will never become popular again . . . and there are some good ones.  Here are the highlights:

1.  Elmo . . . at least partially because of the "Sesame Street" character.

2.  Kermit . . . for the same reason.

3.  Gaye (for women), and Gaylord (for men)

4.  Ebenezer . . . even though the literary character was ultimately reformed.

5.  Adolf . . . for obvious reasons.

6.  Errol

7.  Horace

8.  Karen

9.  Fanny

10.  Isis

11.  Bartholomew

12.  Bertha

13.  Alexa . . . Amazon really killed the momentum of that one

14.  Lance

15.  Phyllis

16.  Cletus

17.  Gary (why is this on the list??)

18.  Prudence, Charity, Chastity, and other "puritanical virtue names."

19.  Archibald . . . but there are plenty of kids being named Archie.

20.  Brumhilda . . . or Brunhilda.

See the thread here.

Coca-Cola is teaming up with Nabisco for an Oreo-flavored soda . . . AND a Coca-Cola-flavored cookie.

They say the soda has a "refreshing Coca-Cola taste with flavorful hints inspired by Oreos."  But unlike the cookies, it's zero sugar.

They say the Coke-flavored cookies have the, quote, "Coca-Cola inspired taste fans know and love."  One side of each Oreo is red, and the white cream has red edible glitter mixed in. (which is always fun later)

It's been 20 years, so by now everyone knows that the TSA limits liquids in carry-on luggage to three ounces. (well, you would think)

But that COULD be changing.

Airports have started upgrading to new scanners, which can allow for as many liquids as you want . . . in containers up to two liters, which is nearly 68 ounces.

They use something called "Computed Tomography" that can determine liquids differently . . . so that's pretty cool.  But there is a MAJOR catch.

The roll-out of the new scanners is VERY slow, and the TSA expects that it will take until the year 2040 to upgrade all 2,000 screening lanes in about 430 airports across the U.S.

So we may finally get to bring larger liquids on planes . . . in 16 YEARS.

Someone in New York turned a leaky fire hydrant into a makeshift koi pond, and it's caused a whole lot of drama.

The hydrant is in Bed-Stuy (bed-stai), a neighborhood in Brooklyn.  It's not clear if it was already leaking, or if someone opened it up.  But earlier this month, a guy bought a hundred goldfish at a pet store for $16 . . . dumped them in the puddle . . . and they've been thriving.

A group of neighbors have been feeding them three times a day, and it's become a local landmark after videos went viral.  People are showing up to feed the fish and take pictures.  Some are calling it the "Bed-Stuy Aquarium."

But unfortunately, the city of New York does NOT love the idea.  They say the leaky hydrant could "impact the availability of water" if there's a fire, or affect water pressure within the whole system.

They've sent workers out to turn it off multiple times.  But people keep turning it back on to save the fish and keep the puddle from drying up.

The city put out a statement saying, "We love goldfish also, but we know there is a better home for them than on a sidewalk."  And it sounds like the "better home" idea might catch on eventually.

The people who've been feeding the fish said they'll distribute them to kids around the neighborhood if they need to.  But they'd like to keep the pond going as long as possible.

Someone started a GoFundMe, hoping to raise enough money to make it a permanent tourist attraction . . . which doesn't seem very realistic.

The fish won't survive once the temperature drops.  And things like birds, dogs, cats, and RATS could eventually gobble them up.

People have also been stealing the fish to either save them, or to take home as souvenirs.

The Beatles recorded so many songs during their career, it'd be hard to try to rank them.  Well, "Entertainment Weekly" took on the task, and made a list of the Top 50.

1.  "A Hard Day's Night" (1964)

2.  "A Day in the Life" (1967)

3.  "Yesterday" (1965)

4.  "Strawberry Fields Forever" (1967)

5.  "Something" (1969)

6.  "She Loves You" (1963)

7.  "Let It Be" (1970)

8.  "Tomorrow Never Knows" (1966)

9.  "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" (1965)

10.  "Across the Universe" (1969)

A 12-year-old kid in Massachusetts named Danny Doherty set up a homemade ice cream stand outside his house to raise money for his brother's special needs hockey team.

But it got shut down after someone in his neighborhood complained to the health department.  You're not allowed to sell homemade ice cream in Massachusetts, and they snitched on him.

He ended up getting around the red tape by offering the ice cream for free and asking people to donate, which netted him about 60 bucks.  But he stands to make a lot more than that now.

The owners of a restaurant called Longboards heard about it, and they're donating 25% of the proceeds from their signature dessert to help his cause.  They also put out a donation jar for him.

Today's Back-To-School Useless Fact of the Day - Why do we give our teacher an apple? The tradition goes back to 16th century Denmark, where teachers didn’t earn enough for food so parents would send their children to school with an apple for them.
