Yesterday was National Hot Dog Day.
Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, more than 800 hot dogs are consumed per second. That's about 7 billion.
88% of people use mustard as a topping which makes sense since George J. French introduced his French's mustard in 1904, the same year that the hot dog was introduced to America at the St. Louis World's Fair.

As Phoenix hit 19 straight days with highs of at least 110 F, breaking a half-century-old record, Europe could also soon set a new heat record. In southern Europe, countries including Greece and Italy are urging locals and tourists alike to stay indoors amid a heat wave that is expected to last for days and which could break the continent's record of 119.8 F set two years ago in Italy. Which is 48 degrees in celsius.

You know the Energy Star stickers that show if an appliance is efficient and green? The Biden administration wants to create its cybersecurity equivalent for smart TVs, fitness trackers, baby monitors and any other consumer tech that's internet connected or uses Bluetooth and are less vulnerable to hacking. The Cyber Trust program could roll out next year, and so far Amazon, Best Buy, Google, LG, Logitech, and Samsung have signed up.

Warner Music Group is looking to increase digital music revenue after inking a new deal with social media giant TikTok.
The new multi-year licensing deal gives TikTok creators access to WMG's entire music library. This is great news not only for content creators but for emerging acts who tend to skyrocket to the mainstream after their sounds go viral on the app.
Also part of the deal, TikTok's newly launched premium music streaming service, TikTok Music, will include music from WMG's extensive catalog. That service is currently only available in Brazil and Indonesia but is expected to hit other markets in the future.

The not-always-reliable Radar Online says that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are having issues, and they're taking some time apart to figure things out.
A source says, quote, "They're trying to figure out what hit them. Harry doesn't fit in Meghan's tacky Tinseltown world," and he needs to "find himself."
They're also under "tremendous financial pressure" to fund their California lifestyle. Quote, "That stress, coupled with their emotional issues, has likely made life a living hell."

Hollywood writers and actors have been accusing the studios of doing some underhanded things, but this is SERIOUSLY low.
Universal supposedly had the trees pruned on the sidewalks outside its studios in L.A., which deprives people on the picket lines of much-needed shade with temperatures topping 90 degrees.
What's REALLY dastardly about it is that they may have DESTROYED those trees out of spite.
Apparently, these types of trees should NOT be pruned in mid to late summer, because it can, quote, "induce an off-season growth spurt," leaving them "vulnerable to freeze damage."
Also, the trees were planted by the city, so Universal may not have had the right to mess with them.

Japan Airlines wants to free people of the hassle of carry-on bags . . . and the hassle of packing altogether.
They've just launched a new service that allows foreign tourists and business travelers to RENT clothes from them . . . for as little as $28 for up to two weeks.
It's called "Any Wear, Anywhere" . . . and travelers can rent up to eight outfits in three sizes . . . small, medium and large . . . in various styles, like business casual and more formal stuff.
You don't even need to pick up the clothes at the airport . . . they'll be delivered directly to your hotel. And you DO know what you're getting . . . when you make a reservation, you go online and select the items you want.
The clothes will be previously used, but they're thoroughly cleaned and ironed before being delivered. And don't worry, the service does NOT include underwear and other undergarments.
So you will need to pack a few personal items. But the idea is that you can minimize luggage as much as possible.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day (and sneaky marketing) - Oranges are usually sold in red net bags because it makes the color of the fruit look brighter.
