Dyngus Day - a Polish holiday popular in Poland, Ukraine, and in Polish communities in the United States. the day is most associated with water and pussy willows. Males throw water on females and gently hit them with pussy willow branches. Males many times climb on the roof of buildings and hit a tin pan to announce which girls will be soaked. Girls are able to stop themselves from getting doused by giving boys a ransom of painted eggs. According to tradition, girls are able to take revenge on Tuesday. But, there usually is no waiting, and girls pour water back on boys and whip them with pussy willow branches on the same day.

April Fools Day -  One prominent theory says that it started in France in 1564, after New Year's Day was changed to January 1 that year. Those who wanted to continue celebrating the old new year around Easter became known as "April fools," and tricks and jokes were commonly played on them. Although France started beginning their years on January 1 in 1564, they didn't adopt the Gregorian calendar until 1582, and some sources claim this may have been the year that April Fools' Day started.

Are you a fan of April Fools' Day pranks in general? A recent poll found it's a pretty even split. 45% of Americans think they're amusing . . . 47% say annoying . . . and 8% aren't sure how they feel about them.
