3/8/25 & /9/25 - Clocks, One-Legged Jeans, and Your Lock Screen

bribriny

Saturday 3/8/25

Sunday 3/9/25

Celebrate:

This weekend is the Start of Daylight Saving Time (no s on saving..don't say it wrong)

We turn the clocks ahead (you know, spring forward) and lose an hour...but it will stay lighter longer in the day!!!!!!!!

The actual time is 2am Sunday, but change your clocks (and don't forget the one in your car) Saturday Night before bed!

We will continue to change our clocks forever and ever because congress is too inept to actually get anything done.

Interesting to note, there are no worldwide universal DST/ST time-change dates. Fortunately for North America, both Canada and Mexico observe the same time-change frames as the U.S. Good for the continent!

But in the U.K. and the E.U.it begins on the last Sunday in March and ends on the last Sunday in October.

About six months ago, people online were talking about a growing fashion trend: One-Legged Pants.

So, one of your legs is covered in a pant-leg, like usual . . . and the other is mostly exposed, as if you were wearing a mini-skirt or short shorts.

Logic would say that this was a dumb internet topic that fizzles out before it ever takes off . . . but against all odds, it seems to be catching on?

One-legged jeans are selling out everywhere online . . . leaving some "influencers" to make their own versions.

Even some fashionistas are not into it.

Maybe the cost of $440 is putting people off.

Let's say you're on a first date, and the other person puts their phone down and their lock screen is showing.

Most people just have a basic screen that comes with their phone, but others customize it with a photo of their pet . . . a family member or friend . . . a pic from a vacation . . . or a child.

But what if the person just has a photo of themselves on their lock screen?

A poll asked if having a selfie as your lock screen was "weird" . . . and 32% said "no" it's totally cool.  The other 68% said "yes," it's bizarre.

Most people are clarifying that it's weird if it's just you alone.  But someone else said, "It's a smart way to prove that it's your phone if it's ever lost."

This Sunday is National Dishwasher Day.

The first dishwasher was patented 175 years ago in 1850.  It was a hand-crank thing, no motor.  Modern dishwashers weren't common until the 1970s.

Here are things you should probably hand-wash instead.

Wooden utensils.  The heat can cause them to warp and crack over time.

Cast iron pans.  You can usually get away with just wiping them down.

Insulated mugs.  Some are dishwasher safe, but not all.  Check the bottom.

I would add....anything with a logo or design.

Crystal glassware.  It scratches easily, and it can get cloudy from the heat.

Nonstick cookware.  It's a good way to ruin the nonstick coating.

Copper mugs, pots, and pans.  Dishwashers dull the copper shine.

Gold-plated silverware.  It's a lot more delicate than stainless steel.

Cheese graters.  They're a pain to wash, so it's tempting.  But it can rust the curved edges over time.  Using a stiff-bristled brush is better.

Pressure cooker lids.  The detergent and heat can damage the seals and valves.

Plastic containers.  Unless they say they're dishwasher safe, they can warp and leach chemicals.

Are you an animal lover?  Because this could be the deal for you:

ESA Doctors is an organization that helps people with issues related to emotional support animals.  And they want to pay you $1,000 to watch pet movies.  If you're the one lucky winner, that is.

If you get the gig, you will watch five movies about pets and their owners over a 72-hour period.

Then you'll document your reactions and create a blog post about how Hollywood portrays animals' effect on the mental wellbeing of humans.

It sounds like THEY pick the movies, but they're open to suggestions.  They did list several possibilities, though, including:

"All Dogs Go to Heaven". . . "Beethoven". . . "Air Bud". . . "The Secret Life of Pets". . . "Scoob!". . . and "How to Train Your Dragon".

The search is on for the next James Bond.  But what if, instead of hiring a new guy, we recycled one of the old Bonds?

There's a growing movement online to get Pierce Brosnan back . . . even though he's 71 years old.

Pierce was asked if he'd like to do it and he said yes . . . and no.

Quote, "Of course, how could I not be interested?  But it's a delicate situation now.  I think it's best to let sleeping dogs lie, really.  I think so.

"It's a rather romantic notion and idea, but I think everything changes, everything falls apart.  I think that it's best left to another man, really.  Fresh blood."

Brosnan starred in four Bond flicks from 1995 to 2002:  "Goldeneye", "Tomorrow Never Dies", "The World Is Not Enough", and "Die Another Day".

We might bring back the woolly mammoth, and just got a preview this week.  Scientists created woolly mice, and yes . . . they're adorable.

Colossal Biosciences genetically engineered them to have long fur and do better in cold weather.  They're hoping for the first woolly mammoth calf by 2028.

Again, I've seen movies..what could possibly go wrong????
