A sleep expert named Dr. Deborah Lee says that drinking coffee the minute that you wake up may NOT be your best bet.

She says that when you wake up, your cortisol level is at its peak.  That's your primary stress hormone, which enhances alertness and focus.  It also regulates your metabolism and immune system response.

If you drink coffee at that point, it may do more harm than good . . . and it's even possible that you could become immune to caffeine.

Dr. Lee says the best time to drink coffee is "mid-to-late morning," when your cortisol levels have begun declining, and you first feel your energy slump.  If you wake up at 7:00 A.M., that might be 10:00 A.M. or noon for you.

But even waiting 45 minutes after you get up is better than having it first thing.

That said . . . another doctor and sleep expert, Wendy Troxel, says, quote, "There really is no scientific evidence that having caffeine first thing in the morning versus delaying it for a couple of hours has any differential effects on alertness . . .

"I think it's mostly a matter of personal preference."

A new poll found 11% of Americans exercise in bed.

Maybe things like crunches, or a few leg raises?

It was part of a bigger poll on America's "dirtiest" sleeping habits . . . or, reasons you might want to wash your sheets more often.

Over 50% of us don't always shower at night . . . two-thirds let their pets sleep in bed with them . . . around half of us snack in bed . . .

. . . 21% smoke or vape . . . and a third of us don't wash our hands if we have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

It also found one in three Americans don't always brush their teeth before bed.

A "wellness brand" just released a ranking of the most- and least-stressed states in America.  It's based on 16 factors that are grouped into four categories:  Money stress . . . work stress . . . health stress . . . and family stress.

And Tennessee was named the most-stressed state.

The 10 most-stressed states are:  Tennessee . . . Alabama . . . Oklahoma . . . Louisiana . . . Nevada . . . South Carolina . . . Georgia . . . Arizona . . . West Virginia . . . and Indiana.

The 10 least-stressed are:  North Dakota . . . Utah . . . Iowa . . . Nebraska . . . Minnesota . . . South Dakota . . . Wisconsin . . . Idaho . . . Wyoming . . . and Washington.

Items that have "food waste" listed on them are not actually recycled, instead they end up on landfill. This includes pizza boxes. So in order to properly discard a pizza box you need to cut off the top, compost the bottom (greasy parts) and recycle the top part.

BUT!!!!

New research reveals that, so long as you remove all the pizza, the cardboard container that held your Veggie Supreme can be readily recycled into something new.

study found cheese and grease "at typical levels" do not impact the quality of paper and cardboard manufactured at mills using recycled materials. Technology gets some of the credit: Over the years, paper mills have become more adept at screening out chunks of cheese during the pulping process. Meanwhile, it turns out that it's the very rare mill that receives pizza boxes in a volume large enough to impact its end products.

Consumers need only make sure that they empty the boxes of stray slices and crust, plus any chicken wings, sauce containers, pizza savers, and anything else that might be left inside.

We talked about Zoom meetings and how they should be no longer than 25 minutes, that's when everyone zones out. But when do meetings happen?

According to Calendly, the bulk of meetings take place in the afternoon, with 43 percent scheduled from 2 to 6 PM, and only 3 percent of meetings take place between 8 and 9 AM.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Joan Rivers maintained an organized collection of 65,000 typewritten jokes, and they were cross-referenced by categories like "Parents hated me" or "Las Vegas."  The largest subject area was "Tramp," which included 1,756 jokes.
