Just in time for the Academy Awards March 12 AMC Theatres is launching a line of microwave and ready-to-eat popcorn products at Walmart. While giving people one more reason to watch movies at home rather than in a theater might seem like a bad move for AMC, the goal is to diversify its revenue streams and ultimately climb out from under a mountain of debt. The products will hit shelves later this week.

Here are a few things to look forward to in March . . .

1. Daylight Saving Time (NO..ugh clock change) starts up again on March 12th, and there's a chance we'll never fall back again. The Senate passed the Sunshine Protection Act last year to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. But the House still needs to sign off, (and who knows if they will do any work at all) and so does President Biden. PLEASE ..figure it out so we never have to change the clocks again!!!!!

2. The Oscars are coming up on March 12th. Yes, it's been almost a year since the slap heard 'round the world.

3. March Madness is two weeks away. The men's tournament starts March 14th, and the championship is April 3rd. The women's tournament starts March 15th, and that final is set for April 2nd.

4. In movies: "Creed 3" opens wide this Friday . . . "Scream 6" arrives March 10th . . . Adam Driver's dinosaur space epic "65" opens the same day . . .

The new DC Comics movie "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" lands on the 17th . . . "John Wick: Chapter 4" opens the 24th . . . and the new "Dungeons & Dragons" movie hits theaters March 31st.

5. On TV: Season 3 of "The Mandalorian" starts today . . . Mel Brooks' "History of the World, Part 2" hits Hulu next Monday, almost 42 years after the original came out . . .

"The Voice" also returns next Monday . . . "Ted Lasso" is back on the 15th . . . and "Yellowjackets" and "Succession" both return on the 26th.

6. And St. Patrick's Day is the 17th. It's on a Friday this year, which could get messy.

March's Flower is the Daffodil.

In Wales, legend says that those who see the first daffodil of the season will be blessed with wealth in the coming year.

During Medieval times, it was thought that if a daffodil drooped as you looked at it, it was an omen of death.

The gift of a single daffodil is thought to bring about misfortune, so it’s better to give a bunch.

The daffodil is traditionally given to celebrate a 10th wedding anniversary.

We are in Meteorological Spring..the equinox is March 20th.

March's Birthstone is Aquamarine, and Bloodstone is an alternate but they both mean strength and perseverance.

The White House is giving government agencies 30 days to remove Chinese-owned TikTok from federal devices over security concerns surrounding the video-sharing app. Congress approved the ban in December.

The news comes amid concerns TikTok could be used by Beijing to collect individual private data. Canada, the European Commission, and Taiwan have recently made similar bans, and other western countries, including Denmark, are considering implementing bans. ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, previously denied using the app to spy on Americans; however, reports revealed it accessed US user data and planned to use it to track American citizens, including journalists. A Chinese official said the concerns are driven by misinformation, and the US ban is an abuse of state power by suppressing foreign companies.

Separately, the House Foreign Affairs Committee is poised to advance a proposed bill this week that would allow the president to ban TikTok from all US devices.

I always get nervous when I hear stories like this. Study of ancient eggshells reveals a new species of Madagascar's now-extinct elephant birds; the flightless animals are estimated to have been around 9 feet tall and weigh 1,000 pounds.

Why am I nervous about this story? Because there's that one guy that says "Hey, this would be cool to bring back to life!"

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The ratio of cookie to cream in an Oreo cookie is 71% cookie, 29% cream.

Double Stuf Oreos doesn't double the amount of cream in its cookies; it only has about 1.86 times as much as the original cookie. The Mega Stuf, which is supposed to be even bigger, is what gives people more than twice the amount of cream at 2.68 times.
