Today is also Pi Day. Pi Day celebrates the pi symbol (π) and its importance to mathematics.

The symbol is a Greek letter, and it is used in mathematics to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. The first digits of this ratio are 3.14159, and the number continues infinitely without pattern. It has been calculated to over one trillion digits after the decimal point.

Gas Prices...do I need to tell you they are high? What to do to keep the costs down. First Check out GasBuddy, Gas Guru and AAA Mobile aps to find the lowest gas prices near you. Also Waze could be a source of info on this as well.

Some supermarkets have their gas programs, and there are member advantages at various gas stations from Byrne Dairy to Fastrack.

According to GasBuddy, the best day to save money at the pump is Monday, which has the lowest average gas prices in most of the country. The most expensive days in most states? Thursday, followed by Wednesday.

“The way you drive can have a real impact on your fuel efficiency,” Gillis said. "It's amazing how so many of us still drive with one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas."

That kind of behavior behind the wheel can reduce fuel efficiency by 30%, he said.

Don’t speed. Fuel economy peaks at around 50 mph on most cars. Reducing highway speeds by 5 to 10 mph can increase fuel economy by as much as 14%, according to AAA.

Also, don’t brake hard or aggressively accelerate as both of those burn gas faster, GasBuddy says. Turn off your A/C and roll down the windows.

Travel light: Take anything you don’t need out of your vehicle. For every 100 pounds you carry around, you lose 1% to 2% in fuel efficiency, or 8 cents a gallon, according to Gillis.

New Jersey and Oregon are the last two states in the U.S. that require a gas station attendant to pump gasoline — but soon there could be just one. New Jersey state legislators have introduced a bill to lift the requirement, placing the pump back into the hands of Jersey drivers. Apparently, labor shortages pushed lawmakers to rethink the rule. It's still not a done deal though, and most New Jerseyians prefer to have their gas pumped for them.

There are an estimated 60,000 storage facilities in the United States. Not individual storage units — storage buildings, each with dozens or hundreds of storage units. Yeah, we’re a nation of hoarders.

… Our homes and storage units are filling up so now Americans are renting full-sized construction dumpsters to de-clutter. People are having the giant dumpsters dropped in their driveway and filling them up with years of stuff accumulated in basements, attics, garages and spare bedrooms. In fact, some dumpster companies are even marketing direct to home consumers.

… By the way, most in-demand city for self-storage units is Houston.
