I guess I'm not staying in the right hotel because I've never been in one with a safe in the room. There are countless articles on why not to use these..but if you do, a flight attendant explains why you should put one shoe in it.
No surprise, it is intended to remind travelers that they may have other goods in the safe that need to be retrieved before checking out. Since you won’t leave without your shoes on, you’ll essentially be tricking yourself into checking the safe before departing.

The winner of a $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot — the fourth largest in U.S. history — has come forward to collect the prize, state officials said Wednesday.
The winner had been a mystery and remains a mystery.
The Maine State Lottery said the winner chose to remain anonymous and collect the cash option through a limited liability company, LaKoma Island Investments LLC, instead of receiving the full amount in payments over time.
“The winner is thoughtfully considering the best uses of the life-changing prize," a representative said in a statement.
By choosing the cash option, the winner will receive a one-time, lump-sum payment of $723,564,144 before taxes, officials said.
The winner had the option of coming forward in person with the winning ticket or remaining anonymous through a trust, lottery officials said.
Unfortunately, you can't do that in NY or PA.

Movie studio A24 is auctioning off props from the Oscar-nominated Everything, Everywhere All At Once to raise money for laundry workers, Asian mental health, and transgender rights.
Up for auction will be a number of items from the multiverse-spanning movie, such as Dierdre's IRS ID card, Jobu's Elvis costume, and an instantly recognizable "Auditor of the Month Trophy."
In addition, one of the film's most iconic visual gags — which takes place in an alternative universe where everyone has hot dogs for fingers — is represented with a pair of "Hot Dog Hands" and a pair of "Knitted Hot Dog Finger Gloves." Plus, the Raccacoonie puppet itself will also be up for bidding.
If you're a fan of the genre-bending, dimension-hopping film, all of these references will make sense. If you're not then just watch the movie! It's fantastic!

“Wherever there’s salmon there’s going to be chaos.” This was Karthik Subramaniam’s motto as he camped out near the shore of the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve in Alaska, waiting for action.
He spent a week waiting for the best picture of the year according to National Geographic.
an incoming eagle swooped in, intimidating its current resident, and claiming the prime spot. He titled the resulting image “Dance of the Eagles” as an homage to a fictional dragon war in George R.R. Martin’s novel A Dance with Dragons, and submitted it to the National Geographic Pictures of the Year contest.

Chief executive Howard Schultz says olive oil's "unexpected, velvety, buttery flavor... enhanced the coffee and lingers beautifully on the palate."
Starbucks is among the major US businesses that have faced obstacles as they tried to expand into the Italian food and drinks market.
Italy's coffee scene is famous for its independent and often family-run cafes.
