The four-foot-long alligator found Sunday in the lake of Brooklyn's largest park was probably dumped there by someone who no longer wanted it as a pet, NYC Parks officials said. The alligator, whose body is not meant for cold weather like the 27 F that chilled New York Saturday, was in poor health and lethargic and was transported to the Bronx Zoo for rehabilitation.

Hair samples from George Washington, JFK, Dwight Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan will be shot into space by Celestis, a company that specializes in blasting human remains into space.

They'll share the ride with a hair sample from "Star Trek" star DeForest Kelley . . . and the ashes of his co-star Nichelle Nichols.

Last week's "South Park" went in hard on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. They were particularly hard on Meghan, who was described as a, quote, "sorority girl, actress, influencer, [and] victim."

A source says Meghan was left "upset and overwhelmed" by her portrayal on the show, and even refuses to watch the entire episode.

There's also talk that she and Harry are considering a LAWSUIT.

Quote, "It appears that, like so many things with Meghan and Harry, this may have legal ramifications attached. Their legal team are casting an eye over the episode to see what is wrong, and what could be turned into something more sinister."

New Emoji time - Among the highlights are the highly anticipated variations on the heart emoji, including the much-in-demand pink heart, plus versions in blue and gray. There are also two new pushing hand gestures for both the left and right hand, which could be used either as “stop” or together for a high five.

One of the more interesting additions, however, is a shaking face emoji, which will likely be used as “I’m shook” by texters.

Further additions include animals like a donkey, moose, goose, jellyfish, and a wing that may fit in with the animals but could use to express flying in other more metaphorical ways, too.

Other new emoji span categories like food and drink, activity, objects, and symbols and include a hyacinth, pea pod, ginger, folding hand fan, hair pick, flute, maracas, and Khanda and wireless symbols.

A small IT company in Indore has come up with an unusual way to ensure its employees maintain a healthy work-life balance - by creating software to remind them when their shift is up and it is time to head home.

Softgrid Computers' software is equipped with a notification system that kicks in the moment an employee's shift is over, warning them that "the office system will shut down in 10 mins" and asking them to "please go home".

The measure comes amid an increased focus on and research into the adverse effect of long working hours on the health and relationships of employees across the world. The World Health Organisation, for example, warned in 2021 that working 55 or more hours a week can lead to a 35% higher risk of stroke, and a 17% higher risk of dying from heart disease.

The software was installed in all employee systems about six months ago.

"We did it over a weekend as we wanted it to be a surprise. When the pop-up first flashed across screens, many employees thought it was a prank, or that someone had hacked into their computer," Ms Shukla says.

She says she chose the pop-up route because it was more fun than a "boring memo or email".

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Cheetos exist because of the U.S. military. It needed a way to ship and store cheese during World War Two, and a USDA scientist invented cheese powder.

Then after the war, manufacturers including the Frito Company bought the leftover powder and came up with new ways to use it. Cheetos were the first.
