2/12/22 I Bet...the Superbowl is Tomorrow

Saturday 2/12/22

Celebrate National Hug, NAACP, Freedom to Marry, Lost Penny, Plum Pudding, Lincoln's Birthday, Global Movie, International Darwin, Oglethorpe, Paul Bunyan, and Safety Pup Day.

Oglethorpe Day, also known as Georgia Day, honors General James Edward Oglethorpe and commemorates the founding of Georgia. On today's date in 1733, Oglethorpe and approximately 100 other Englishmen sailed up the Savannah River and docked at the bottom of Yamacraw Bluff. Oglethorpe organized the colony of Georgia—which became the thirteenth British colony—and became its first governor. He also founded Savannah, which became Georgia's first capital.

This year’s Super Bowl is shaping up to be a betting bonanza. Thanks to a wave of states legalizing sports betting over the past year, more than 100 million people in the US are able to place wagers on the game. With $7.6 billion expected to be bet legally on the Super Bowl (up 78% from last year).

One of the fun things about the Super Bowl are the prop bets. The weird and fun things about the game.

For the Anthem -

Country star Mickey Guyton will be singing the national anthem before the game, and the big question is how long she’ll take to sing it: The over/under is set at 1:38.

Since Whitney Houston’s memorable anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl, anthems have averaged 1:56.

Some performers who have really drawn it out are Lady Gaga in 2016 (2:22) and Alicia Keys in 2013 (2:36).

In Guyton’s last two public performances of the anthem, she’s breezed through it at 1:23 and 1:30.
