1989 - Storm Front - Billy Joel

35 Years Ago - 1989 Billy Joel released his eleventh album Storm Front.

The album's cover depicts the maritime storm warning flag indicating wind forces 10–12, the highest intensity on the Beaufort scale.

"We Didn't Start the Fire" references 119 significant political, cultural, scientific, and sporting events between 1949 (the year of Joel's birth) and 1989, in mainly chronological order. Was a #1 smash and #5 AC.

"I Go to Extremes" peaked at #6, #4 AC, and #10 Mainstream Rock.

"The Downeaster 'Alexa'" made #57, #18 AC, and #33 Mainstream Rock.

"That's Not Her Style" written for then wife Christie Brinkley it made #77 and #18 Mainstream Rock.

"And So It Goes" made #37, #5 AC.

"Shameless" only charts on the AC chart at #40.

Garth Brooks recorded a cover on his Ropin' the Wind album and took it to #1 on the Country chart.
