35 Years Ago - 1989 Janet Jackson released her fourth album Rhythm Nation 1814.

Jackson insisted on creating a concept album addressing social issues collaborating with songwriters and record producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

It is the only album in the history of the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart to have seven commercial singles peak within the top five positions. It is also the first album to produce number one hits on the chart in three separate calendar years, beginning with "Miss You Much" in 1989, "Escapade" and "Black Cat" in 1990, and culminating with "Love Will Never Do (Without You)" in 1991.

"Miss You Much" peaked at #1 on all charts.

"Rhythm Nation" peaked at #1 Club and R&B and #2 Hot 100.

"Escapade" made #1 Hot 100 and R&B, #16 AC.

"Alright" made #4, #1 Club, #2 R&B.

"Come Back to Me" made #2 Hot 100 and R&B, #1 AC.

"Black Cat" Another #1 Hot 100, #10 R&B and #17 Club.

"Love Will Never Do (Without You)" #1, #4 Club, #3 R&B, and #33 AC.

"State of the World" Not released commercially but made #5 Radio Songs and #9 Club.

This album got in the player and really never left for months!
