35 Years Ago Today 1989 the #1 Dance song was "Like a Prayer" by Madonna.

We talked about the album last month, but to recap:

This was her seventh #1 and topped the Hot 100 chart for three weeks.

If I remember right, there seemed to be some controversy with the video! Ha! And here it is! Pepsi canceled their sponsorship but allowed her to retain the $5 million fee. (how do I get a deal like that?)

The song also hit #3 AC and #20 R&B.
