35 Years Ago - 1988 Bette Midler released the Beaches: Original Soundtrack Recording.
It was easy to make this movie with Bette's songs, as the character is about C.C. Bloom's rise to fame as an artist, even pulling from Bette's "burlesque" style of songs.
"Under the Boardwalk" was actually released first (no chart), but it was "Wind Beneath My Wings" that became the huge smash. Bette wasn't the first to record it, but her version went to #1 and #2 on the AC chart.
