35 Years Ago 1987 Starship released their second album No Protection.
"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" was the first single and also showed up in the film Mannequin. The song was co-written with Diane Warren and was her first #1 song. (#1 AC #16 Mainstream Rock.) At the time, Grace Slick became, at age 47, the oldest woman to attain a number-one single in the United States, surpassed only by Cher, who was 52 when her song "Believe" reached number one in early 1999. (by the way, in the UK this has been broken by Kate Bush's run to #1 with "Runnin' Up That Hill.)
The next singles were "It's Not Over (Til It's Over)" (#9) and "Beat Patrol" (#46.)
