1987 Living in a Box released their self-titled debut album. The self titled first single was the only chart appearance in the US making #17. A friend of the bands songwriter and keyboard player Marcus Vere lived in a small council flat in Sheffield prompting him to remark "I feel like I'm living in a cardboard box!", referring to the sense of feeling enclosed.
