1986 Bon Jovi released their third album Slippery When Wet. Big singles from this one, "You Give Love a Bad Name" (#1), "Livin' on a Prayer" (#1 #1 Mainstream Rock), "Wanted Dead or Alive" (#7 #13 Album Rock Tracks), and "Never Say Goodbye" (#28 Airplay) #11 MR.)
"You Give.." was originally written for Bonnie Tyler called
"If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man)" with different lyrics. Dissatisfied with its success in the US and the UK, Desmond Child re-wrote the song with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora.
