1984 - The Works - Queen

40 Years Ago - 1984 Queen released their eleventh album The Works.

The album's title comes from a comment Taylor made as recording began – "Let's give them the works!"

"Radio Ga Ga" The music video for the song uses footage from the 1927 silent science fiction film Metropolis. The song peaked at #16, #28 Club, #22 Mainstream Rock.

"I Want to Break Free" peaked at #45, #51 Club. The video featured them in drag which is a popular trope in Britain, which didn't sit well in America (gee..things don't seem to change) The song is much more accepted today in America, finally.

"It's a Hard Life" made #72.
