1982 - On, No! It's Devo. - Devo

40 Years Ago - 1982 Devo released their fifth album Oh, No! It's Devo.

Mark Mothersbaugh said the album was titled that because "there are many people out there who, when they hear we're around again or have one more album coming out, that is their reaction."

"Peek-a-Boo!" was a club hit at #13 and "That's Good" was a Club #6 hit.

According to Mark Mothersbaugh, the Devil faces shown in some parts of the "Peek.." video were a couple of black velvet paintings that the band had found in Tijuana and they had them animated. Also notable is the re-appearance of dancer Craig Allen Rothwell, who played the "Spazz Attack" character that appeared in Devo's music video for (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.

In 1986 Weird Al did a musical pastiche of Devo heavily influenced by this album (particularly 'Time Out For Fun".) "Dare to Be Stupid" parodied many Devo videos and sound. Mark Mothersbaugh stated in reaction to the song that: "I was in shock. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. He sort of re-sculpted that song into something else and... I hate him for it, basically."
