1981 Billy Idol released his first solo record (ep) Don't Stop. This featured the remake of Tommy James and the Shondells song "Mony Mony" which became a #7 Dance Club hit (boy did we play this at Lando's a lot! "Hey What"..."Get La....."oh never mind.) The live version from 1987 was released as a single and went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, coincidentally displacing Tiffany's cover of another Tommy James song, "I Think We're Alone Now", from the top spot. It also finished directly behind the Tiffany song at No. 19 in the 1987 year-end Billboard chart.
The album also featured a remixed and re-released version of "Dancing With Myself", a song that his New Wave band Gen-X had done. in 1981 it reached #27 on the Dance Club chart. Re-Released in 1983 it made #102 (?? I thought this was a hit..thanks MTV)
