45 Years Ago - 1980 Sugarhill Gang released their self-titled debut album.

It is considered the first hip-hop studio album.
I was surprised by a few things.
1. There is straight-ahead R&B on a few tracks.
2. It was produced by Sylvia Robinson.
"Rapper's Reprise" featured The Sequence, the first female hip-hop trio.
The hit was "Rapper's Delight" which is credited for introducing hip-hop music to a wide audience.
"Interpolating" the base groove from Chic's "Good Times" (which did result in a co-writer settlement) the song peaked at #36 and #4 R&B.
