1979 - Cornerstone - Styx (plus Dennis DeYong and Tommy Shaw Debuts)

45 Years Ago - 1979 Styx released their ninth album Cornerstone.

Their first to get a Grammy Nomination.

The album featured their first #1 "Babe" which was written as a birthday present to Dennis DeYoung's wife Suzanne. It also made #9 AC.

"Why Me" made #26.

"Borrowed Time" peaked at #64.

1984 Dennis DeYoung released his debut solo album Desert Moon.

The title track was originally intended to be a Styx song but the band broke up. It made #10.

1984 Tommy Shaw released his debut album Girls with Guns.

The title track peaked at #6 Mainstream Rock and #33 Hot 100.

"Lonely School" peaked at #60.
