45 Years Ago - 1978 Kenny Loggins released his second album Nightwatch.
Jazz artist Bob James produced the album.
"Whenever I Call You Friend" a duet with Stevie Nicks reached #5 on the Hot 100 and #9 on the AC chart. The song is co-written with Melissa Manchester. She would say, "It came out of the oddity of the times - he and I kept running into each other at televised award shows, which were fairly new...We were frequently paired up to present awards together. We would meet and chat in the Green Room, and finally he asked if we could get together and write something. He came to my house one night and we polished off that song."
The second single "Easy Driver" made #60.
The album also features the first appearance of "What a Fool Believes" co-written with Michael McDonald which would become one of the Doobie Brothers major hits and received Grammy Awards in 1980 for both Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
