St. Nicholas Day - a popular minor Christian saint in Western and Eastern churches. In the fourth century, he was a bishop in Myra, a Greek town in the ancient district of Lycia, in Asia Minor, near present-day Demre, Turkey.
St. Nicholas Day is popular in Europe, particularly with children, because of the belief that St. Nicholas brings them gifts. Before the day, many European children place shoes or special St. Nicholas boots in front of fireplaces or outside of their front door at night. On the morning of the day, they receive small presents, such as candy, cookies, fruit, and small toys. Besides shoes or boots, presents are also placed in stockings, socks, or bags. In some countries, gifts are given on the eve of the day.

Adobe Analytics tracks holiday spending each year. And Cyber Monday set a new record for biggest online shopping day EVER in the U.S.
We collectively spent $13.3 BILLION, up 7% from last year. For one two-hour stretch Monday night, we were spending more than $15 million every MINUTE.
The hot products this year included TVs, wireless headphones, computers, stuffed animals, and the Nintendo Switch game "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe".
We also set a new record for total online spending between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday . . . just over $41 billion.

Stearns History Museum in Minnesota is teaching kids about architecture in a festive way. They have them sketch out a blueprint, go through the process of applying for permits, and then build their design out of gingerbread. Organizers say it's a fun way to introduce them to the basics of architecture and engineering.
Gingerbread houses are on display at the Rockwell Museum for this year's contest. Make sure to stop in this weekend for free and vote!!! Also, make sure to visit The Corning Museum of Glass for their open house!

I have talked about this debate before, but it showed up in my Facebook Feed on the Generation Jones page. They posted a video from All in the Family where Archie and Mike are discussing it.
Do you put on a Sock and a Sock, Shoe and a Shoe.....or Sock, Shoe, Sock Shoe?
It's a moot point for me as I put my socks on upstairs and continue with my day till I leave the house and put on my shoes right before I leave.
Watch the brilliant video here.

One of the things that we have heard is to make your bed every morning.
Well.....
a viral Instagram video says making your bed right after you wake up creates the perfect breeding ground for dust mites to thrive, thereby worsening allergies and asthma.
An anesthesiologist says you should leave your bed unmade for an hour or two every morning to allow the moisture from your sweat to dry up, which will in turn "drastically reduce the number of dust mites that can survive."
Another doctor says it really doesn't make that much of an impact.
So go ahead..make that bed!!!! (I have cats that will sleep on my bed..so it gets made right away!!)

"Zebra striping" might be a good strategy for your next holiday party, because it can keep you from getting too drunk.
It's when you alternate between alcohol and NON-alcoholic drinks, much like a zebra's stripes alternate from black to white.
In other words, have a drink. But your next drink has to be water, soda, or something else with no booze in it. You can't have two in a row.
It forces you to drink less because your stomach stays full, and it also helps keep you hydrated.
It can be a good tip for people who tend to sip nervously when they're out in social situations.

Two legendary jingles celebrated 50 years in 2024: The "Meow Mix" jingle and the "Oscar Mayer" one. You know, "My bologna has a first name . . ."
Oscar Mayer is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its jingle with a contest . . . where fans who can recite the entire thing, by heart, can get PAID.
Go to SingToPay.com, and enter your information, along with a video of you performing the jingle. The deadline is December 15th.
You don't get extra credit for your skill . . . or creativity . . . because they say "winners are chosen at random."
They're choosing 1,000 winners so you do have a reasonable shot at this.
Oh..and it's in tandem with Instacart, so you have to order ($50) of groceries, and I would suppose Bologna, with your account.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The original "Star Wars" trilogy is 377 minutes long, but Darth Vader only appears in 44 of those minutes, which is less than 10%.
He's only in 11 of the 121 minutes of the first movie . . . 14 of the 124 minutes of "The Empire Strikes Back" . . . and 18 of the 132 minutes of "Return of the Jedi". Yoda was in even less . . . a total of 17 minutes and 55 seconds.
