Researchers in Canada wanted to figure out why music with heavy bass makes us want to dance. And they went about it in a weird way.
They brought special speakers to a techno concert to add even more bass to the songs. But they played it at a super-low frequency that humans can't hear. As low as 8 hertz, when most of us can't hear anything below 20.
The point was to see if it still made people dance more. And the answer is YES.
They turned it on and off every two-and-a-half minutes and tracked people's dancing, including how much they bobbed their heads. And the average person moved about 12% more when the bass was on.
They think it's because people subconsciously FELT the vibrations of the bass. So even though they couldn't hear it, it still made them want to move.
It also shows that low vibrations and movement are just very strongly linked. So if you want to add energy to your next party, pump that bass.

First of all..Lady, you are part of the problem!
A Florida woman is suing the Kraft Heinz Company for $5 million, claiming they misled the public about the time it takes to prepare its Velveeta microwavable mac and cheese cups.
Her suit alleges Kraft Heinz violated federal law by saying Velveeta Shells & Cheese cups take 3½ minutes to prepare.
“Ready in 3½ minutes” is printed on the box, which is the amount of time the product takes to cook in a microwave. However, the suit says it takes more time to complete the other required steps.
This is how the lawsuit describes the cooking process:
“First, consumers must ‘REMOVE lid and Cheese Sauce Pouch.’
Next, they must ‘ADD water to fill line in cup. STIR.’
Third, ‘MICROWAVE, uncovered, on HIGH 3-1/2 min. DO NOT DRAIN.’
Finally, they should ‘STIR IN contents of cheese sauce pouch.’
Defendant then notes that ‘CHEESE SAUCE WILL THICKEN UPON STANDING’.”
“Consumers seeing ‘ready in 3½ minutes’ will believe it represents the total amount of time it takes to prepare the Product,” the suit states. “Meaning from the moment it is unopened to the moment it is ready for consumption.”
The plaintiffs are seeking at least $5 million in damages, “including statutory and punitive exclusive of interest and costs.”
The Kraft Heinz Company responded to the lawsuit Sunday, saying, “We are aware of this frivolous lawsuit and will strongly defend against the allegations in the complaint.”
This is what happens when you have too much time on your hands. Lady..get a job.

Here are three incredibly dangerous things you're fast enough to run away from.
1. Spiders. Even the fastest spider in the world tops out at 1.2 miles-per-hour. So if a venomous spider is after you, you can easily get away . . . as long as you spot it sneaking up on you.
2. Lava. The fastest lava flow ever recorded is six miles-per-hour. You can beat that pace, at least for long enough to get to safety.
3. Any land animal on Earth. You can't outsprint a cheetah, wolf, or even a bear. But you can outlast them. If you have a head start, you can run LONGER than they can . . . other animals need breaks. So never stop running.

Not enough sports on TV? Wait for it...Power Slapping!
UFC boss Dana White is bringing his new Power Slap league to TBS, beginning in January.
If your friendly neighborhood algorithms haven't exposed you to slapping competitions yet, the concept is pretty simple:
Two people stand toe-to-toe and take turns slapping the bejesus out of each other.
They keep doing it until someone gets knocked out . . . or if that doesn't happen, there's a point system after a certain number of rounds.
Scoring is based on a striker's effectiveness, along with the defender's reaction and recovery time.

For the first time since 1984, Mauna Loa, the largest active volcano in the world, has started to erupt on Hawaii's Big Island. The eruption began late Sunday in Moku‘āweoweo, the summit caldera of Mauna Loa in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The lava flows are not threatening any nearby communities downhill at this time, the USGS said. Still, residents were warned of volcanic gas, fine ash, and Pele's Hair – thin strands of volcanic glass, which could "be carried downwind."
An eruption from the northeast means lava could flow towards Hilo, Hawaii, or other locations in East Hawaii, but it could take the lava weeks or even months to reach people. Lava emerging from a southwest rift zone could reach communities in hours or days.
I always thought that Mauna Loa was a Macadamia Nut brand!

Merriam-Webster has announced its 2022 word of the year: "gaslighting."
Gaslighting – defined broadly as "the act or practice of grossly misleading someone, especially for one’s own advantage" – gained significant interest throughout the year. Searches for the word increased 1,740%, the dictionary publisher said Monday.
In this original context, Merriam-Webster defines gaslighting as a "psychological manipulation of a person" – which can cause that person "to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories and typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, uncertainty of one's emotional or mental stability, and a dependency on the perpetrator."
Gaslighting today can relate to deception, manipulation and misinformation across personal and political contexts, for example, and is heightened by growing technology.
in 1944 there was a movie called Gaslight that follows a young woman whose husband slowly manipulates her into believing that she is descending into insanity.
Their other words in the top 10 words this year were:
Cancel culture
Oligarch
Omicron
Codify
LGBTQIA
Sentient
Loamy
Raid
Queen Consort

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - The African spiny mouse is the only known mammal that can lose up to 60% of its skin and grow it all back. Their skins are brittle and can easily tear to help them escape their predators.
