When someone finds a long-lost ring . . . and tracks down the owner . . . they're usually thrilled. But that isn't always the case.
A few months ago, a man named Steve Andrews discovered a wedding band in the English Channel. He was on the banks, and was using a metal detector. It had the date 1989 on it . . . and so he started trying to track down the owner.
Miraculously, he recently found the woman it belonged to . . . but she did NOT want it back. It turns out that she went through a "bad divorce" with her ex, and she intentionally threw it into the ocean after the split.
Steve said the woman asked him to put it back . . . because she never wanted to see the ring again. And he will. He said the next time he's down in that area, he'll toss the ring back into the Channel.

Some celebrities try to raise awareness about climate change by posting on social media. Some attend rallies. Some organize benefits, or even start their own non-profits.
But Rainn Wilson from "The Office" and as Dr. Demento in the Weird Al movie, just took it to another level, by changing his name to Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson.
It doesn't sound like he changed it legally, which would have been even more hardcore. But he says, quote, "This is not a joke, I'm as serious as the melting Arctic, which amplifies global risks including extreme weather events around the globe."
"Rainnfall" is trying to send a message to the COP27 climate change conference that kicks off in Egypt this week.
Quote, "The Arctic is melting at millions of liters per second, yet this problem can't seem to make a name for itself, so it's up to us to make a name for it."

Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away. So to get you in the mood, Mental Floss put together a list of movies that include a Thanksgiving scene. Here they are:
1. "Addams Family Values" (1993): Wednesday Addams gives a speech about the injustices done to Native Americans during her camp's reenactment of the first Thanksgiving.
2. "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" (1987): Steve Martin's character is trying to make it home in time for Thanksgiving.
3. "Miracle on 34th Street" (1947): Yeah I know, you're thinking "Hey that's a Christmas movie!" But it opens with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, so hey, it counts!
4. "The Ice Storm" (1997): It includes a scene with a Thanksgiving dinner with a not-so-nice speech.
5. "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" (1973): This might be my favorite "Peanuts" holiday special. Snoopy's Thanksgiving feast with toast, jelly beans, and popcorn? Yes please.
6. "Spider-Man" (2002): It includes a Thanksgiving dinner.
7. "You've Got Mail" (1998): It takes place during the holiday.
8. "The Humans" (2021): It also takes place on Thanksgiving.
9. "Scent of a Woman" (1992): Chris O'Donnell plays a student who looks after a blind Al Pacino during Thanksgiving break.
10. "Home for the Holidays" (1995): You might be able to relate to this one. It's just another dysfunctional family sharing a Thanksgiving dinner.
11. "The Gold Rush" (1925): Charlie Chaplin prepares a Thanksgiving dinner.

Is this a great idea, or something only a psychopath would do?
A family in Australia recently lost their dog, a golden retriever that lived a long, happy life. And instead of burying him or having him cremated . . . they had him turned into a bearskin....more like a dogskin rug.
A taxidermy place near Melbourne posted a video of the finished product on Instagram the other day. They said the family wanted him "preserved as a pelt," and that he was, quote, "finally ready to head home."
To be fair, it's almost like having the dog there with you. His fur is soft, and you can still pet it. But also . . . it's your dog as a rug. That's a little different than doing it with a bear you had no emotional connection to.
The reaction in the comments has been mixed. There were some positive comments early, mostly from other customers who follow the place online. Some of the more recent comments haven't been so supportive.

Police in Georgia recently busted a gang of thieves . . . by following a trail of candy wrappers.
Nine bandits have been accused of burglarizing multiple homes and vehicles between in early October . . . about a half-hour outside of Atlanta.
The thieves hiked through wooded areas to sneak into properties and cars . . . make getaways . . . and stash items that they stole until they could take them elsewhere. But that was also their undoing.
One of the items they stole was a bag of miniature Milky Way bars, which one of the thieves was apparently snacking on while they were making their way through the woods. They left a trail of wrappers, and the cops followed it to their house.
The police have arrested nine thieves . . . but the investigation is still ongoing so more arrests are possible. The suspects were hit with various charges, including burglary and drug possession.

By turning on the subtitles when your kid is watching TV, it enables them to learn verbal and spelling skills without them even knowing. A lot of shows repeat the same words over and over, which will mean they won’t have to sound words out to spell them, they will just know what it looks like.
(and it doesn't make it weird when they start watching foreign films or..um...when you can't understand what they are saying...i'm not deaf....no..It's the accent!!!!
