Jules Bass, the animator, producer, director and composer whose work included stop-motion holiday television specials like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town,” died at the age of 87 on Tuesday at an assisted living facility in Rye, New York, publicist Jennifer Fisherman-Ruff confirmed.
Bass was known for his longstanding creative partnership with director Arthur Rankin Jr., who died in 2014 at 89. The two pushed many productions through their banner Rankin/Bass Productions, which was known for its laborious cel-animated, stop-motion films that took long periods of time to turn into full-length features.

Buying a Thanksgiving turkey will be more expensive this year due to the rising cost of farming turkeys and the death of at least 5.4 million birds from a terrible year for avian influenza.
Turkey producer Butterball is hoping it can at least make cooking those turkeys as pain-free as possible. Next week, the company will launch its 41st annual Turkey Talk-Line for home cooks troubleshooting their Thanksgiving turkey preparation. This year the company also offered free 24-day Comfort Calendars that share daily tips and emotional support in the lead-up to Thanksgiving. In what may be a window into Americans' state of mind, the Comfort Calendars are already out of stock.

Did you know there is a US Cheese Stockpile? For what reason I can't figure out, but it's huge! 1.5 Billion Pounds approximately $3.4 Billion in Cheese!
Over the last 30 years, milk production in the U.S. has increased by 50%.
Yet, while milk production has climbed, milk consumption has declined. In 2004, Americans consumed the equivalent of about 0.57 cups of milk per day. By 2018, average milk consumption had dropped to 0.33 cup-equivalents.
In response to this predicament, the U.S. government and dairy companies have been purchasing the extra milk and storing it as cheese for years.
So, where does one store such a large amount of cheese? A sizable portion of the stockpile is stored in a massive underground warehouse (a former limestone quarry) outside of Springfield, Missouri.

Kellogg's just announced a new product for the holidays called Eggo Nog . . . yes, Eggo Waffle-flavored eggnog.
It's 40 proof, so 20% alcohol. The full name is "Eggo Nog Appalachian Sippin' Cream". They partnered with a distillery in Tennessee for it.
It's not out yet, but should be soon. They say it'll be available nationwide at select stores throughout the holidays.
They claim they came up with it after they found out lots of parents eat Eggo Waffles at night after their kids are asleep.
But it seems more likely someone just blurted out "Eggo Nog" in a creative meeting, and they greenlit it.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - The guy who invented Vaseline supposedly ate a spoonful of it every day . . . and he lived to be 96.
The minor side effects could be seen in some cases. Symptoms may include indigestion, stomach ache, diarrhea, or loose stool. It's non-toxic, but could be a choking hazard because of its thick consistency.
