You may have heard of Dry January where you abstain from alcohol, maybe getting back on track after the crazy holidays.

Now there's Sober October.

A survey found 10% of Americans planned to participate and another recent poll found 38% of adults don't drink at all. So if you combine those, almost half the country isn't drinking this month.

Avoiding booze is a trendy thing to do now, partly because young people aren't drinking as much.

The poll found the number of Americans who are at least "curious" about a "sober lifestyle" has doubled since 2020.

40% said yes, compared to 20% when the same poll was done four years ago.

We’ve all been there: your leg falls asleep, and you’re left with that annoying tingly feeling.

Here's a simple trick to wake up any body part that falls asleep:

Shake your head back and forth… That’s it!

It sounds silly, but it really works like magic.

This simple movement helps stimulate blood flow throughout your body, quickly reviving that numb limb.

Struggling with a big decision? Try tackling it while lying down.

When you're horizontal, your brain processes thoughts faster and boosts problem-solving abilities.

This happens because lying down enhances blood flow to the brain, which can improve cognitive functions.

That's why psychologists often have you lie down during sessions

"Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?" is coming to your TV and it's hosted by Travis Kelce!

The game show will feature a panel of “celebrity” panelists (many of them comedians) assisting contestants in answering a variety of elementary-level questions.

It is set to premiere on October 16 with three episodes, subsequently releasing the rest of the first season's 20 episodes weekly. The show is a spinoff of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" but probably a lot easier.

Look for it on Prime.

Remember when it was a dollar and a dream...increase that by a lot!

The cost of a Mega Millions ticket will jump 150%, from $2.00 to $5.00.

It comes with some exciting "mega enhancements," which will launch next April

1.  Improved odds to win the jackpot. (the current odds of winning are set at 1-in-302.6 million)

2.  Bigger jackpots more frequently.

3.  Larger starting jackpots.

4.  Faster growing jackpots.

By the way, Powerball will stay at $2.00 for most tickets.

In Las Vegas they said goodbye to the Tropicana. It was imploded at 2:30am.

It was built in 1957 and along with the demolition (that no one could be close to) there were 555 drones and a fireworks display.

The space will be used for the new Major League Baseball Stadium for the relocating Oakland Athletics.

he Sahara will stand tall as the only Strip resort from the 1950s.

Researchers in Denmark say they've created a pill that mimics the benefits of running a 10K.  Yes . . . an exercise pill.

It, quote, "brings the body into a metabolic state corresponding to running 10 kilometers at high speed, [and] on an empty stomach."  So it also offers some of the benefits you get from fasting.

Exercise triggers the release of a hormone that suppresses your appetite, and another one that flushes fatty acids from your bloodstream.  That's good because it reduces your risk for things like heart disease and diabetes.

If it does what they think it does, they say it could be a game-changer for people who are too injured or too old to work out . . . or for people who just don't want to.

Human trials haven't happened yet.

CNN just did a big story on new A.I.-powered hiking pants that give you 40% more leg power.

There's a built-in exoskeleton on each pantleg that helps you push off while going uphill.  Then they lighten the load and protect your knees while coming back down.

They're called "MO/GO" pants, short for "mountain goat", the first orders are set to ship next year.

They're part of an emerging trend called "movewear."  Clothing that literally helps you move around.

They are $5000 a pair.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - Superman was originally supposed to be a BAD GUY.  Jerry Siegel created Superman in 1933 for a short story called "The Reign of the Superman".  A year later, he decided it made more sense for him to be a hero.
