How to brew the perfect cup of tea? By adding salt. At least this is what has been claimed by a US scientist who asserted that she has found the recipe for the perfect cuppa.

This has led to a tea controversy between the US and Britain.

He says a pinch of salt should be added to tea to "reduce the bitterness". The professor further said milk should be added after pouring the tea to reduce the chance of curdling. Dr Francl said the milk should be warmed first.

The US embassy in London stepped in to downplay the issue, saying the "unthinkable notion of adding salt to Britain's national drink is not official United States policy". "And never will be."

The US embassy said the professor's recipe had landed "our special bond with the United Kingdom in hot water".

"Let us unite in our steeped solidarity and show the world that when it comes to tea we stand as one."

However, the US embassy concluded its statement by taking a swipe at the UK. "The US Embassy will continue to make tea in the proper way — by microwaving it," it said.

In Britain, tea is usually made in a kettle, which is less popular in the US.

Will "Ally McBeal" be the next show to get a reboot?

The beloved '90s comedy series could make a comeback, according to its star Calista Flockhart.

Flockhart, who played the title character, said a possible "McBeal" project could be in the works

"I think there are some people talking about a reboot, but I don't know much about it," Flockhart told ET on the carpet Tuesday night.

The news comes after the "Ally McBeal" cast reunited onstage during the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this month.

Scientists construct the most complete genomic map of the Arabica coffee bean, which accounts for close to 60% of global coffee production; findings may lead to more disease- and drought-resistant strains.

(You'll have your coffee, but die a horrible death because they studied the bean)

Coffee Facts

73% of Americans drink coffee every day.  The most common answer was one or two cups, but almost half of us drink more than that . . . including 4% who said at least SIX cups a day.

89% also make coffee at home at least once a week.  66% said daily.

Only 18% of us take our coffee black now, down 56% in the past two years.  Men are more than twice as likely as women to skip the cream and sugar.

Sugar is still the top sweetener, and we add an average of THREE packets.  Stevia and other zero-calorie sweeteners are next.  Honey is a distant third.

Only 2% of us hate coffee.  87% described themselves as at least somewhat "coffee-obsessed."

The San Antonio Zoo is at it again this year. The zoo is bringing back Cry Me a Cockroach, a viral tradition of giving donors the opportunity to symbolically name the roaches, rats and vegetables that are fed to the animals after their exes.

The fundraiser has brought in more than $225,000 since its inception in 2020.

New this year is a hippo poop-scented candle inspired by the beloved Timothy the Hippo.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The shortest career for anyone who's played in the NBA is Jameson Curry. He played 3.9 seconds for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2010 . . . and that's it.
