Looking for a new movie list to fill the cold dark winter nights? Variety’s first-ever list of the 100 Greatest Movies of All Time might do the trick.
They state - Our choices were winnowed from hundreds of titles submitted by more than 30 Variety critics, writers and editors. As we learned, coming up with which movies to include was the easy part. The hard part was deciding which movies to leave out.
But our hope is that in looking at the films we did choose, you’ll see a roster that reflects the impossibly wide-ranging, ever-shifting glory of what movies are.
Many aren't a surprise as they have shown up on lists before.

Jamie Lee Curtis is feeling pretty proud of her late mother.
The actor, 64, was touched to learn that Variety just named one of her mom Janet Leigh's most popular films as the No. 1 greatest movie of all time.
The 64-year-old went on to explain that she loves how movies have the power to influence multiple generations of viewers.
“The miracle of the movies is that they last forever, in perpetuity. How thrilling to see her legacy today through the loving portal of @variety as the number #1 movie of all time," Curtis continued.

Robbie Bachman – the drummer of Canadian rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive – has died at age 69.

The cancer death rate has fallen by 33% since 1991, according to a new study from an American Cancer Society Journal. That means 3.8 million people lived who would not have at past survival rates. The decline in smoking, advances in diagnosis and treatment, and the HPV vaccine all contributed to the dramatic decrease.
